maybe not the most compelling of the single by choice beers so far, but i thought this was killer. i am not sure i have seen summer hops in this context before, all by themselves and in a purely dry hopped setting, just on its own, its awesome. its a cool beer because the summer hops are so unique, it looks the same as all the others, yellow and hazy straw colored and milky almost, low alcohol thought, bubbly, and drinkable for being so hazy. the summer hops stand out to me, sort of savory more than citrusy, a little of the northwestern pine and oiliness and even like a cascade sort of vegetal spice, but also like a culinary herb thing, marjoram or oregano herbaceousness, tea, sliced orange, its awesome. traces of floral honey and a little starch from the malt, even a little bitterness from these hops despite the heavy dry hop. i think this was a cool learning experience, summer hops have a super unique profile, earthy and savory and more intense and nuanced than a lot of the noble varietals, but earthy like that too, just delicious. i love the beers these guys are making, but this single by choice series has been my favorite so far! interested in more beer with summer hops for sure...
