Welcome to my 200th beer review! Naturally I picked an Imperial Stout, because we all know it's "the best" beer style. (Duh!). Honestly, I've tried around 20 different Imperial stouts over 10% ABV, but this may be the darkest beer I've ever seen.

The body utterly swallows light. Darker than espresso, with a thin half-centimeter film of brown foam, the color of Brazilian chestnut wood. Creative and interesting can art idea too.

The pour produces an explosive aroma of dark roast coffee and cacao, followed up with subtler notes of vanilla, black licorice, leather, toffee, caramel and fudge. Wow!

Upon sipping, coffee and fudge take center stage, with backup from vanilla and toffee, finishing with a warming licorice sweetness. Lovely, but a little too rich for my palate. Definitely a sipper.

The feel on this is actually really interesting. It's super creamy, but not syrupy. Smooth, but not frothy. Dry on the finish, but not clingy. The dryness comes off as woody, like it was barrel-aged, but I'm fairly certain this was not.

Pretty damn delicious stuff. Well done, New Image. Cheers!
