nice beer, i think there are multiple versions of this, various different dry hoppings and such, thiolized yeast, phantasm powder, awesome name for a beer with phantasm too! i was impressed with this, but also, its generic, how can that even be? i dont know, but its true. its like the highest form of new wave ipa these days all tastes the same, or close enough, that its juiced out to flavor over saturation and as long as the ferment is clean enough and its not vegetal, its great. perhaps this has a little more soul than most, but its not as unique in the glass as i expected it to be with all thats going on in here, and its less obviously phantasm dosed than others, less of that sauvignon blanc intensity, perhaps truly more for chemistry with hops than for immediate flavor here, which is how i originally understood it to be intended for. blonde and hazy, but not overly so, bubbly and holding almost an inch of white head from the tap. it smells like melon, ripe and drippy, some dehydrated mango too, green pear and green banana, and fleshy coconut and its water. the flavor is a bit more familiar in terms of hops, lemon curd and white tea, with very low bitterness, a pink starburst candy up front intensity, and only a little grain flavor to balance or cut it, even though there is plenty of soft body for this to feel balanced even if it doesnt taste balanced in the traditional sense, wheaty i would think. there is some uniqueness to the hops no doubt, and i can tell the yeast is bringing out their best, that biotransformed intensity, which is great, but also, i feel like ive had this beer a couple dozen times already even though i havent, if that makes sense, like at the top they are all pretty close, which is to say this is near the top, a compliment, but also that i still wanted more from it, even if thats not fair its true. soft medium body with some starch, nice carbonation, off dry to finish is fine, oily on the palate in a good way, plenty fresh, and definitely boosted tasting. nice beer, this would play anywhere.

This was another beer that I bought recently on Tavour, never having had anything from New Image before. I was drawn in by it's description and the 80's-inspired label and indeed, this had a "new wave" feel to it as it stood out a bit from other beers that I've had from that part of the country. Lots to like here as it had a quite complex taste that was smooth, varied, and meshed well together in the end as the alcoholic presence was quite subdued!
Golden, cloudy, and topped off with plenty of head, this had the appearance of wheat, which wasn't surprising given how much went into it. One thick and varied ring of lacing remained near the top of my glass with a thin ring along the lip and scattered dots of suds the rest of the way down. Wheat, floral notes, malt, and a hint of exotic fruit were in the nose as the taste closely followed suit as there was just a bit of goose and blueberry to keep this lively. Equally juicy, filling, and cloying, this had a subtle depth to it as the Citra made this feel familiar with a good amount of spicy bread and outdoorsy hops to round this out. Just a little bit of big, dark chunks of sediment remained as this felt somewhat fresh and softly dank in the back, with the wheat lasting throughout my session.
Hard to detect the alcohol in this as I could have easily cracked another can open after finishing this off. Dated exactly six months ago today on the label, I would have liked to have had this new although it aged nicely and still retained it's ease of enjoyment from the Phantasm. Lots to like here for those in the Rockies that miss beers from of these styles that originate in these parts, as this held it's own nicely compared to those!

Two-finger head. Very slow to recede (quite rocky) leaving ample streaks on the glass as it does so. Hazy, but not cloudy, with darker gold color.
Creamy, soft pale malt starts the smell. Dry. Slowly the floral hop begins to appear with a light earthiness.
The malt is sweeter on the tongue and the hop is ever so slightly more pronounced. Richer body with a neutral carbonation level. Some alcohol warmth to the broth. The hop is not complex showing up mostly as white pepper. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste although the beer is never harsh.
