You may remember our little mini drop with Primitive Beer from earlier this year. Well, a good chunk of this Belgian Barleywine went into BLiS maple syrup casks for additional aging before being blended and re-fermented with Vermont maple syrup. This is our first naturally carbonated, Belgian barleywine and it’s an incredibly unique beer.

Had back to back with the non-ba version. This was the lesser of the two! Why? Because the maple bourbon barrel sweetness overpowered the nuances of the original, leaving malts, char and minor barley in both smell and taste. The mouthfeel is a mess of hot sweetness cloying and gnashing barley trying to fight back
