Crafted by first maturing it in a high gravity, single-malt Strong Ale base for two years in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Then blended and transferred to another set of Kentucky bourbon barrels, where it was aged for six more months.

Fobab 2025. One of my top two for this event.

Appearance: Pours a clear coffee color with a quick-fading beige film; leggy, but no lacing
Smell: Burnt caramel, Bourbon, vanilla and raisin
Taste: The Bourbon barrel treatment overwhelms the flavor profile, bringing sweet burnt caramel, vanilla and raisin tones to the forefront; there is just a touch of chocolate that arrives, mid-palate, along with some oak, but the finish is sweet and boozy
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: This is a beer to age and see what it becomes in a couple of years; it is fairly brash now and somewhat one dimensional

Look - Pours a dark reddish-brown color with almost no head that immediately disappears.
Smell - Raisin, chocolate, bourbon, and oak.
Taste - A dry taste, that's mostly bourbon.
Feel - A bit too much bourbon for my taste. I guess I'm not as much of a fan of the double+ barrel aging as others here.
Overall - I usually don't care as much for double+ barrel aging, and this is no exception.

The complexity is insane. Goes from sweet raisin to dark chocolate to dry wood finish. As it warms up the dsrk chocolate turns towards coffee. Absolutley amazing. On the drier side of barleywine but that is not detrimental. The dryness balances out the flavours immencely.
