Sr. Mendrugo
Cerveza Mica

Bought at an Aldi's in Madrid's Chamartin district, I drank this while eating a salad at Mas Cosas, a restaurant vendor in the Arrival Hall for Atocha station's High Speed Rail. I particularly liked the scene because I could observe for trains what we see at airports, family and friends emotively greeting each other. To me, this shows that trains can be on that higher and special level and, indeed, they were a century ago; then, so-called progress set in.

Anyhow, Sr. Mendrugo paired well with the salad (even though it was before noon.) The dressing was mostly olive oil, so Señor knew how to cut through that. He Looked lively in the glass with a nice foam. Smells were mostly sweet malt, but there were some hops in the back of my nose. Tastes were balanced well by hops being present in the attack, but didn't become moderate until mid-palate and then finished almost semi-dry, but still a little semi-fruity. Medium-mouthed. Muy bien, Señor!

This is my fifth from the ale-maker in lager and wine country. And for bringing out their terroir to the Spanish scene, I give them very good Overall Hugs.
