Half pint on Nitro at Fate Brewing in Scottsdale.
Beer looked absolutely wonderful in the glass, very dark body with a 1/2"+ head of tan foam that stayed for most of the glass.
I was expecting a really strong, robust nose on this one and was very disappointed to find a predominantly boozy scent with some faint smoke underneath. Going in on the first sip I was doubtful, but was immediately shaken by how smooth, thick and tasty the beer is. Apparently this is brewed with fresh homemade gingerbread cookies, and the flavor corroborated. Hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, nuts, and light roasted malt with a very creamy finish. None of the alcohol I was smelling came in through the taste which I was very excited about.
Overall, this isn't my preferred style, but I had to try it and was very glad I did. If gotten the chance I would go in again and I'm sure it would be just as great not on nitro. Big up FATE! Wish I could have shared this one with my fellow beer nerds back home.
