This is the first run of theDouble Honey IPA. It's brewed with30 pounds of "urban-foraged" honey collected my a lady here in PHX who specializes in relocating hives from homes and other urban spots out to the wilderness. Probably a little African Killer Bee in this beer!
Brewed with Crystal, Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, and Chinook hops (like Arizona's motto, the 5 C's). Stated as 95 IBU.
On tap, pours clear and bronze-copper color into a snifter glass. Low head, lacy remnants hang on to the side of the glass for a long time.
Even with all that honey in the batch, there's no particular honey note; the major difference between this and other double IPAs might be a lack of the sharp hop note, according to Travis, the honey goes mostly into feeding the yeast and increasing the octane rating. Maybe there's something in the taste that I'll detect in the next try!
