On-tap at Carlsbad Tavern, Scottsdale, AZ:
Pours amber with orange and copper hues. Beautiful color. A thin white head leaves trailing lace.
The smell is of citrus and tropical fruits. Robust. Sour, some caramel.
The taste is of sour citrus - lemon and orange. It blends with bitter grapefruit and sweet tropical fruits and caramel. Sweet, sour, bitter blend together well. Like a rainbow of citrus and then tropical fruits on the palate. Long, sour finish.
Velvety smooth. It hits full-bodied.
Despite the (well-covered) abv, this drinks very easily. Complex and unique - with a nice sour character while staying in American IPA style. Everything melds together wonderfully here. A brewing work of art!
