Formerly Driftless

Ruby red with khaki foam. A bouquet of classic American hops, piney and resinous with pithy orange zest awaken your nose. Assertive bitterness balanced by a splendid malt backbone leave plenty of room for the massive dry-hopped flavor.

Served in a tulip. Absolutely gorgeous ruby red color with some slight haze. 1 finger soapy pillowy head. Decent aroma with fresh squeezed oranges and orange zest, some dark caramel and dark fruits popping through. Pine sap and needles in the background. Flavor was similar with citrus and orange pith, piney and a bit of sticky hop oils. Dark fruits and caramel show up to the party as well and bring their bready malt friends. Super smooth creamy mouthfeel with very low almost nitro like carbonation (maybe a co2/n2 mix? Which isn't uncommon). Overall all really great beer. Didn't scream "Belgian yeast" in anyway so I'm not sure why it's called a Belgian IPA. Tasted more like an American red IPA. Which I'm totally coo with and prefer. My only complaint was the carb was a bit low and masked some of the hop flavors.
