Very tasty, this one. At the brewery/restaurant, one one of the last nights it was warm enough (barely) to eat outside, served in a tulip. Not turbid or chalky like some NEIPAs, but really dense...the orange is kind of even bright; 1/2 finger head and some retention and lacing. Nose is a whole lot of lovely tropical fruit (mango, papaya), along with a little citrus (lemon, in particular) and some lemongrass, too. Taste follows, and the malt really plays a perfect complementary role. Mouthful is really smooth and soft. Some layers of flavor on this one, and they're all nice. Yum.

Can. Deep yellow-orange hazy appearance with good bit of foam on the pour. Fruity aroma of ripe tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is good too. So why the lower than expected rating based on brief review? There is this fresh cut grass and earthy flavor that comes through toward the end of the tasting. It just kind of negates a lot of the good tropical qualities. If that grass flavor wasn't there, this would be a 4.5. Still good though, and I would get again.

Pours a hazy golden color with a white head and streaking lacing.. looks great. Tropical smells of citrus ,pineapple, mango , and lemon grass. Taste is superb very tropical with above smells but with the addition of lemon meringue, cut grass herbal quality with works well with the citrus and tropical hops . A very soft mouth feel with no bitterness just hop explosion and taste. Another superb NE Style IPA.

Poured probably a bit cold, but I was impatient and didn't let the crowler warm.
Look: pours a very typical North East IPA look-hazy, well carbed, with some white head popping up top. The color is somewhere between a dark gold and a copper.
Smell: Big mango, tangerine, tropical fruits
Taste: Mango and citrus largely play with the palate. Tasty, but doesn't live up to the nose.
Feel: Body is medium full with some juicy characteristics, but there's a bitter dry finish
Overall: Hip Hops is an excellent IPA, however, I'm not sure it can compete with the north east IPA's that is is styled after. For Minnesota, this is one of the best IPA's in the state, I believe, and worth seeking out.
