Heading down for the latest big expensive stout release gave me the excuse I was looking for to buy this 750ML bottle of big, expensive imperial porter. Split with my wife.
The cap dribbles off with nothing I could detect over the ringing in my ears, & indeed, the beer pours close to flat even with a vigorous pour & shaking. The nose is mild: sweet malts, roast, light booziness. Tame.
Harley Waldronson first impression: delicious. Know Lynn Gilmartin? Like that, in liquid form (I hope I haven’t used that line yet). The vanilla is dialed up to 11, the coconut provides a nice dance partner, faint smokiness from the mescal, coupled with a moderate dose of alcohol & pinned malt sweetness. No roast detected. Sticky. Drinkable. Four packs, please.
Forager knows malty beers. This is no Nillerzzzz or Maple Nillerzzzz or Maple Almond Pecan Vanilla Coconut Sour Milkshake Nillerzzzz, but it’s damn tasty. Fantastic beer.
