L: Poured from a bottle to a goblet. Had a purplish-red color and a cloudy, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white, somewhat long-lasting head. Below average lacing.

S: An interesting aroma of red wine, blackberries, funky Belgian yeast, and spices.

T: Tasted of a decent amount of blackberries (a subtle flavor), a bit of the funky Belgian-style brettanomyces, a ton of red wine (and its oak barrels), a lightly spicy quality, and some black currants. Like the aroma, this is an interesting and unexpected flavor. It's extremely heavy on the red wine, but it still seems to work. Quite delicious.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a sharp finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An unusual, worthwhile (if a little pricy) take on a Belgian beer. Worth a try.

On draft, a deep violet pour with pinkish tan head. Lots going on here, with modest Brett funk contrasting with the red wine tannins and black currant tartness, plus a lot of oak character from 18 months in the barrel. Overall a very pleasant melding of flavors.
