First time I've seen this beer and it shows up in my local beer shop just as Hopslam is released. And this beer just happens to be a DIPA with honey. . . . So I bought it. This ain't not Hopslam! A decent beer but the honey/residual sweetness is low and the bitterness especially in the finish is more pronounced that Hopslam (which I just happen to buy at the same time and then did a side by side.)

Opaque dark gold amber appearance with a well retained white foamy head. Big white grape, gooseberry, lemongrass dankness, grapefruit pith, citrusy, melons, apricot, juicy with some slightly sweet toasty crackery malts and some honey. Thick medium bodied, soft creamy mouthfeel. Real nice DIPA with honey and Nelson and Wakatu hops.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a snifter glass. Had a golden yellow color and a very cloudy consistency. There was a 1 1/2", foamy, somewhat long-lasting head. Fantastic lacing.
S: A solid aroma of hops, malt, honey, tropical and citrus fruit.
T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (mostly in the finish), a fair bit of tropical fruit (passion fruit), a decent amount of honey, a good shot of hops, and some citrus fruit (orange). In general, this is a solid flavor, with a whole lot of fruitiness. The honey makes for an interesting addition. It's not quite as fruity as most NE IPAs, but still pretty sweet and tasty.
F: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This is a well done, easy to like beer. Worth a look.

Poured the hazy straw-orange color typical of the style. A hoppy-citrus front accented the malty back extremely well! The 8.3% abv was well-hidden and Haka is extremely drinkable, an excellent beer for a BBQ !
