This one pours a very dark black, with a small head and not much lacing.

This smells like sharp booze, hazelnut liqueur, brandy, oak, coffee and vanilla.

This is quite beefy and boozy - it does not hide that well. The adjunctery is not strong enough to hide all that, unfortunately. Hazelnut is most prominent, with a somewhat mild coffee character. There’s a nice soft vanilla note, but it doesn’t do enough to round the beer out. I get more brandy sweetness than actual bourbon.

This is medium bodied, slight creamy, but with a slight boozy bitterness on the back end. It’s a very slow sipper.

This was fun to try, but it was a touch messy.

 

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored head that lasted a below average amount of time. Not much lacing.

S: A strong aroma of chocolate, bourbon, malt, vanilla, coffee, and nuts.

T: Tasted of a fair amount of malt (present throughout), a tinge of vanilla, a fair bit of hazelnuts (kind of hangs around the edges), lots of chocolate (always a nice thing), a fair shot of bourbon, and light coffee notes. A big and aggressive, yet not overpowering, flavor. It's sweet, complex, and completely delicious.

F: Had a decent amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Medium- to full-bodied.

O: A wholly enjoyable stout. Drinkable.
