Fresh can from their VB brewery; a terrific DIPA; everything Commonwealth does is really good

16oz can, no apparent freshness date. In my quest to drink a beer from each state, I came across this one I have never seen around here before - cross off Virginia! A frothy ivory head rests as a foam atop a murky yellow ale. Candied apricot & mango, citrus, and green hops for aroma. Sweeter flavors with more of that candied fruit vibe: pineapple, mango, apricot, Mandarin orange, and lemon along with some pine and green hops. Medium-to-full body, soft carbonation, modest bitterness, but finishes more sweet. Good NE DIPA here - I like the unique sweetened fruit flavors but the beer as a whole is a little too sweet for me.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a snifter glass. Had an orange / yellow color and an extremely cloudy consistency. There was a two inch, foamy, extremely long-lasting head. So-so lacing.
S: A sweet and fruity aroma of hops, citrus fruit, tropical fruit, and malt.
T: Tasted of a decent shot of tropical fruit (mango, in particular), a hint of malt (mostly in the finish; kind of fleeting), a good shot of hops (not too much, though), and a lot of citrus fruit (orange, especially). A sweet, juicy and lively flavor. For a DIPA, it has less hops bitterness than expected; much more fruit than anything. Quite tasty.
F: A good amount of carbonation with a smooth and creamy finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An easy to drink DIPA. Worth a try.
