22oz bomber obtained from the source. This is an instance where I think the barrels really make a positive difference. The base additives are nicely implemented, providing a good impression of a dulce de leche milk caramel over cake. However, rather than simply emulating the source inspiration, this actually provides an elevated beer that shows some synergy between a quality stout and a quality dessert. The bourbon barrel is really a highlight, adding some welcome spice, oak character, and booziness to what could have become overwhelmingly sweet. It's still toeing that line, but in my judgement, this is a nice instance of being inspired by a concept rather than trying to imitate it.
