I CAN only CANtinue to sing the praises of Boulevard following their distro expansion into PA! I love that so many of their beers are now readily available to me, especially those in the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm).

From the CAN: "Crisp*Dry*Comfort"; "Köln-style Golden Ale".

I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed magnificently to form wo-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with good retention, slowly falling away to wisps. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality, causing The Gelt Gang of Midas, Croesus & Mammon to come running into my kitchen for a taste. They have not been around much lately since a) I killed my TV for the foreseeable future & b) I have not been drinking many lighter-colored beers or at least, ones with clarity. Nose was very bready, like proofing dough getting ready for the oven!

I had my oven on today to heat some pizza slices. Mmm. It has been kind of nice having the day off at the start of the week. Of course, I lose a day's pay, but I ran some errands & prepared for Saturday's movie premiere.

This malty breadiness begs the question of their referring to it as "crisp & dry". Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The first thing that I noticed was an initial honey-like breadiness as far as its taste was CANcerned. Hmm. Finish, however, was quite dry & I CANnot tell you how we got there so quickly. One seCANd, semi-sweet, the next, dry. 8=O It should go without saying, but this, CANbined with its relatively-low ABV, makes it a great CANdidate for the beach-bound cooler next Summer. Yum! YMMV.

12oz can, got overcharged for this: it better be good

Looks like a beaut, smells kinda rusty - dry leaves and lager hops. Taste is pretty damn good.. Sweet malt with muted hops and a very clean, dry finish. Easy to drink, but flavorful.

I will buy again.

I'm trying this beer at my good friend and old neighbor's house in the 'Wego for his son's high school graduation party. It poured a clear golden with no head and no lace. The scent had faint grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain malt base and very slight bitter finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.

Most Kolsches are dry. This beer says on the can "dry". Guess what? It's dry. That makes it a good representation of the style, but I found it just a bit too dry for my liking. Definitely some lemon and grass flavor (but not lemongrass, interestingly), and very low alcohol so you can have a few of these on a hot day. I have a couple of other Kolsches that I prefer, but this one's pretty decent too.

6/14/17 (Chicago): $4 16 oz pint glass draft pour at Vaughan's Pub NW. Golden pour, thin white head, significant carbonation. Hops and lemon aroma, light tasting hops and lemon. Light crisp and clean drinking, good mouth feel. Overall good a Kolsch.

Pours a crystal clear bright yellow with a thick white cap. Nice lacing. Aroma is corn, biscuits, and a hint of lemon. Flavor is a touch sweet, with some European(?) hop bite in the finish. Feel is light and crisp, nicely carbonated. Overall a nice session beer that I'll seek out again.

Pours a ruby-copper with a finger of white foam. Head retention is okay. Aroma is clean, with notes of fuji apple, banana, clove, bready, biscuity malts and a light yeast ester. It's simple, and lightly dry, not lingering long. Flavor profile is fuji apple, clove and clean bready, biscuity malts with herbal, floral hops behind. There is a dry, yeasty taste that comes on at the finish and remains the last lingering notes. Mouth feel is still, with a medium-thin consistency affording little in the way of texture or dynamics here. Overall, a simple beer. It would be at home in the heat, and makes a great replacement for a standard pilsner.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

Got this as a sale item since it's just out of date. Wasn't expecting much but I'm pleasantly surprised by this one. Good take on the style with a more citrus-y hop profile than traditional versions. Not as sweet as I expected which earns points. Nice dry finish. Might be considered a summer beer but it's a good switch from the winter heavy hitters.

A great beer for a hot day after cutting the grass. Crisp, golden, and clear. Tastes like a classics Kolsh, but has the low night of hops like a mild ale. Not a bad beer overall.

Appearance: Pours clear and golden with a two finger head; decent retention and a few squiggles of lace

Smell: Crackery, with a sweeter shortbread aspect; somewhat grassy

Taste: Cracker malt, up front, with the sweeter shortbread tones building; grassy through the middle but the finish veers back to the sweeter elements

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: Easy to drink but a bit sweeter than I expected

Not much going on here. Not a particularly balanced beer either. Much more bitter than anything. Good mouthfeel upfront, but it closes off with a weird watery and bitter, albiet long-lasting, finish. Some presence of flavor, but very little lasts long enough to get a decent read on it. Weak and easy to drink in the end.

Aroma: Honeyed malts, sweet and toasty. Nice and pretty true to style.

Taste: Clean and malty here, as should be. As above, faithful to style and easy to drink. Finishes clean and with only a touch of hops. Nice enough brew, though not one I’d really pursue again.

Looks like nothing special. Gold light lager look with mild carbonation and forgettable lacing. Smells almost sweet like butterscotch. Tastes great and smooth like a beer to drink during a football game. Feel is ok but not hop profile. Not something I’ll remember but it wasn’t bad.

Pours a clear gold color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong pale malt, sweet malt, slight floral hops, earthiness, slight oatmeal, and slight wheat. Fits the style of a Kolsch. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong pale malt, sweet malt, slight floral hops, earthiness, slight oatmeal, and slight wheat. Overall, good complexity and blend; rather tasty for a Kolsch.

L: pours a straw gold with perfect clarity and I love it. Nice 1" head that stays there for a good while.
S: lots of bread malts and maybe a little spice but very subtle not getting very much else.
T: nice and bready. With a hint of spearmint. Hops are there but slightly.
F: nice and crisp! I love it. Carbonated well. Light body.
O: this is a perfect summer beer or a beer after work. It is a good American take on Kolsch and I loved it. Def will buy more.

Poured into a custom shaped grip glass: color is straw gold, head is bright white with fine to small bubbles, head presents about 1/2 inch thick and then thins to 1/4 inch top, head laces well down the glass sides.

Smell is light toast, good base malt, clean and then some grassy hops.

Taste is also pleasantly malty, good toast, light cracker and some biscuit; hops are grassy, some light lemon.

Mouthfeel is moderate, crisp carbonation, lingering crispness.

Overall a good version of this style with very good malt flavor and flavor balance.

12oz, can served in a tulip nonic. Pours a bright straw gold with a translucent clarity and a loose, quarter inch, bright white head the quickly disperses into a tight band around the shoulders and fizzy slick across the surface. Nose expresses grassy notes with the merest hint of earthy hops towards the back. Taste follows nose with a malt backbone that's light and crackers but a little too assertive for the style. Mouthfeel is light in body with a prickly carbonation and a semi-dry finish. Drinkable but lacking the delicate subtleties of the style.

Pours to a permanent, lacy head and deep golden color. This is a tasty looking beer...but... The aroma does not conform to the Kölsch style in my opinion. There is a certain white wine whang I look for in this style and it's just not there. It smells like a very clean blonde ale or a very chewy pale all malt lager. Flavor is light and slightly favoring the malt. Crisp, hop-influenced finish. This is a good beer but If I were the brewer I would NOT call it a Kölsch-style anything.

12oz can. 5/13/17 best by date. Appearance: Deep golden and clear, with a frothy thick bubbles white head and nice lacing Aroma: Rich, bready malt with a floral and minty hop notes and fruity, apple juice like yeast. Taste: Bready, moderately sweet maltiness with a crisp spicy and herbal hop bitterness that is fairly strong against the light malt base. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a light creaminess and a sharp carbonation. Finish: Minty, herbal ho bitterness stands out, with a touch of light toast in the background Overall: Pretty good take on the style, especially considering I’m not drinking a very fresh version. Beautiful appearance and wonderful aroma for the style, allowing the malt, hop, and yeast character to all shine.

t'his is ok. I was hoping for better. Mixed malt and hop aroma. Smooth and clean malt with mix American style hops but not on the fruity side. Certainly a golden ale it is. Mostly clear and loud white head.
Sharp in the carbonic bite, which I'm not too fond of. Still clean, mostly. The taste is reminiscent of the aroma with a mix of hops and malts. It's fine but the intense carbonation seems to really bug me on this. Even though it's a smaller beer and relatively smooth and clean the ale still makes if feel heavier and thus my issue with the carbonation and feeling full quickly and burping way too much.
Warms up decently and is still tasty with time, maybe even more enjoyable.
