Pours a burgundy-brown with a finger of khaki head. Head retention is okay with no lacing left behind. Aroma is oak, maple syrup, rye whiskey, stone fruits, plum and roasted and toasted malts. There is just a touch of boozy warmth to it. Flavor profile is a splendid display of rye whiskey, maple syrup, caramel, molasses, oak, stone and dark fruit and toasted malts. It retains a sublime balance between sugary sweet notes, and boozy barrel. Mouth feel is velvety, with a medium-thick consistency. Overall, a world class brew out of Boulevard. It manages a well constructed balance between dessert like syrup and molasses, malts, and barrel character.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz bottle.

some of boulevards best work, wish there was a way to scale this up and have it available all the time, but i am considering myself lucky to have had this shared with me! not much was produced from what i understand. barrels first used for rye whiskey and then maple syrup were filled with an enormous, rich and already sticky imperial brown ale, and the result is spectacular! almost looks like molasses flowing out of the little bottle, deep brown with auburn highlights and a frothing tan head, dense as can be, but not black. aroma is heavy old wood, oaky and rich, mature and patient, with a lot of malt sweetness, the vanilla and spice from the whiskey for sure, and a maple brown sugar complexion as well, really enticing, like a barleywine more than anything, chocolate malt is not a big aromatic element here. the taste is great, and there is a little cocoa in here, but this is all about the barrels, which lend a ton of real maple syrup flavor to this, a rich fancy vibe, and there is a ton of whiskey too, this is boozy and sugary, but man it tastes so good! a nutty toasted and caramelized grain quality, more maple, vanilla and almond, honey and bran, tons of alcohol and a really long warm finish. i love how different this is, how much maple there is, and how they went all out with the base beer (which i would love to try on its own). really great beer, one of my all time favorites from boulevard. i hope to get my lips on a little more of this one before it disappears...

Appearance is translucent reddish brown with a very small head that vanishes to a thin ring around the outside of the glass moments after pour. Some nice lacing is present.

On the nose there's tons of caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, and other bready sweetness.

Taste follows the nose and is straight up caramel, maple syrup, and vanilla with a little bourbon following quickly behind. Some nuttiness is also present, especially as it warms.

Feel is rather thin, but not surprising since it's a brown ale. Very syrupy with light carbonation.

Overall this is definitely up there as one of Boulevard's most interesting releases. It's not a very complex beer, with caramely sweetness dominating everything, but it sure is tasty. The name is spot on cause everything about this beer screams syrup. I'm glad Boulevard is experimenting with smaller releases and hope they continue to do so.

Pours brown with a touch of red. Half a finger of light tan head. Not much for retention but some fine lacing remains.

Rich, sweet, malty aroma. Caramel and maple. Whiskey. Brown sugar, toffee, and did I mention caramel. Lots of caramel.

Taste like the aroma. Big caramel and maple syrup. Whiskey is a complementary undertone. Sweet malt.

Medium body with some syrupiness. Very sweet. Caramel and maple really lasts a while.

Fantastic beer from Boulevard. Even with they syrupy mouth feel this is a standout. Big rich flavors.

Pours brown with zero head and little lacing on the glass. The smell and taste are as expected: a good backbone of an imperial brown ale with notes of maple syrup. There is a nice nutty flavor on it as well. It is a bit sweet, but not overwhelmingly. The body is a bit thin, but that is to be expected since it isn't a stout. But, it is dangerously drinkable. The best by boulevard in quite some time.
