Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead 10-3-18 for $1.99. Best by 06FEB2019; consumed 1-6-19. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured black with a very nice tan head that has some great hang time.

Nose is light roasted malts with notes of lactose and cocoa.

Taste is moderately roasted malts with notes of cocoa which melds with the lactose fairly well.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied but lacking the body i would expect from the style.

Overall a pretty decent beer. I suspect it would be better as a draft beer.

L - Poured dark brown with 2-finger deep tan head which whittled down to a cap. Minimal, clingy lacing.
S - Chocolate and cherry notes.
T - Follows nose closely, with lactose.
F - Creamy, medium mouthfeel. Fairly smooth with a semi-dry finish.
O - A decent, solid beer.

Deep brown-black with less than a finger of head. Some lacing. Interesting flavor; cola, Dr. Pepper, cocoa. Light and sweet with good carbonation. Easy drinking.

Pours a deep dark brown with ruby tints when held up to light. The thin tan cap falls away quickly leaving minimal lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malts with hints of coffee. Flavor is slightly sweet in front, chocolaty malts and coffee, slightly bitter finish. Feel is medium to thin bodied with adequate carbonation. Overall a decent milk stout without any real individual assets.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---Impenetrable dark brown color. Nice khaki head with minimal retention and very nice lacing.

S---Sweet malts. Lactose and milk chocolate.

T---A touch of coffee, but more milk chocolate & lactose than anything else. Milk chocolate becomes much more prominent as it warms up.

F---Thin, especially for a stout. Wet, with no real drying astringency. Definitely gets more creamy as it warms.

O---A very nice effort. Not complex, but tasty. I could definitely have a few of these without even thinking about it.

Amber chocolate brown. Quickly disappearing head. I've been sniffing before each taste and can't say that anything really pops for me. Taste leans more to the chocolate than coffee. Overall better than average Stout. Would have preferred the aroma to match the taste. On tap, Funck's Leola.

12 oz bottle, dated 2/6/19. Pours brown with a small tan head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves little lacing.

The aroma is sweet perfumey roast chocolate malt with some lactose.

The flavor is sweet floral roast chocolate malt with some milky lactose. The mouthfeel is light bodied and watery.

Overall, not very good.

Pours a pretty nice dark brown color, nice carbonation, with a nice small light tan head, which leaves some minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with a nice chocolate/toffee note, some vanilla, roasty. The taste is pretty nice, malty, pretty nice chocolate/toffee, vanilla, some roastyness. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely. Overall, a pretty tasty brew, surprised me.

Rich, robust and soothingly drinkable, so many breweries have abandoned the sensible stout substyles and head directly to imperial stout with the bells and whistles of bourbon barrel aging, chocolate and coffee additions, pastry laden vanilla and cream; so on and so forth. But Bourevard Brewing Company revisits the tested, tried and true British styled milk stout to show that grand taste doesn't have to come with elaborate brewing schemes.

Very dark brown, seemingly black through the center, a frothy cap mounts on top of their Tough Kitty. A robust perfume of coffee, campfire, cream and cocoa grace the nose ahead of the sweet char character of toffee, caramel and sweet cream to embark on the early palate.

As the sweetness rolls across the middle palate, its sweetness remains intact in full support of the growing roasted character of charred grains, bringing a sense of dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate and black walnut to a full and voluptuous creaminess. Nougat sweetness persists into the late palate, continuing to deliver a taste of cappuccino and latte, perhaps with an extra shot of espresso, deep into an extension of vanilla, brown sugar and aspartame.

Full bodied and creamy from sip to finish, the unwavering ale trends roasty and sweet into a long and coffee-like aftertaste with those milk sugars firmly in tow. A hint of kahlua warmth decorates the finish of an ale that has many of the halmarks of even sweet tropical stout, except for the estery fruitiness that those stout provide.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/11/2018. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, red apple, licorice, smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, lactose, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, nuttiness, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, red apple, licorice, smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/floral/grassy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, nuttiness, toasted dark/brown bread, light dark fruit/smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, lactose, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice hop/roast bitter/sweet balance; with no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very good English milk stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, lactose, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich malts/lactose, restrained fruity yeast, and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Maybe just a tad too estery on the yeast.

Poured black with a thin tan head that dissipated quickly. A little lacing was present. Aroma was faint and of roasted malt and a bit of milk chocolate. Taste is a bit of milk chocolate and black licorice. Moderate - light body with low carbonation and just a bit of creaminess. This was a bit watery to me.

This kitty only looks tough with its cool label art and dark brown, almost black color and beige head. Its aroma has pleasant roasted malts in the nose and on the tongue. Sweet bread, light toast, smooth caramel and a touch of milk chocolate flavor notes blend well together and slowly fade into the finish. The palate is smooth and creamy with just enough carbonation to keep it lively and not cloying. For a its style (Sweet/Milk Stout) its more balanced than most and at 5.5% abv I could sip on a few of these with ease and pleasure.

Poured into a small chalice: color is dark brown - opaque, head is light tan with fin bubbles, presenting 1/2 inch thick and then dissipating to a spotty top and ring with some lacing.

Smell is lightly malty sweet, hint of roast, subtle grassy hops.

Taste follows the aroma with pleasant sweetness, not overdone with lactose, some roast, light chocolate, then some fruit qualities - apples and even some light brandy like qualities.

Mouthfeel is crisp, moderate carbonation, lingering sweetness with stronger lingering bite.

Overall a good sweet stout with some depth in flavor and just moderate lactose qualities.

Tough Kitty pours an almost black color, with a small, but long lasting head. Big sweet aroma, hints of cream and lots of lactose. Flavor is creamy, sweet, lots of the lactose sugars come through, with a slightly smokey malty backbone. Slightly water, but still good body and feel. Overall, this is a top notch sweet creamy milk stout.

To be honest, I only bought this beer because there's a cat on the label. Unfortunately, I didn't care much for this stout. The mouthfeel was quite watery.

Date on bottle 01FEB2018.
Pours to a deep black color and off white head that clings for dear life. Aroma is roasted grains, dark chocolate and a hint of leafy, herbal hops. Flavor is coccoa powder, lactose, malt extract and a bit of raisin. Medium mouthfeel and light CO2. A solid milk stout that held up well for the age.

Black in color with just a fractional amount of light penetration. There's a fingernail of brown around most of the rim and half of the top. The aroma is of lactose and bakers chocolate. I'm tasting sweet lactose and a touch of cocoa powder. The mouth is silky smooth.

My old neighbor from Oswego gave me a bottle of this. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had lactose sweetness with touch of cocoa. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Pours a clear dark brown color. 1/3 inch head of an off-tan color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, chocolate, pale malt, and a hint of peanut butter. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, and an average carbonation level. There is also a slight roasted malt, bitterness. Tastes of slight roasted malt, slight lactose, hint of Euro yeast, hint of piney hops, sweet malt, chocolate, pale malt, and a hint of peanut butter. Overall, good appearance, aroma is lacking, but feel is good, and body and complexity are exquisite.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a small amount of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Not a whole lot of lacing.

S: A pretty good, but not great aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and some dark fruit.

T: Tasted of a bit of coffee, a mild amount of hops (mostly in the finish), lots of roasted malt, some dark fruit (raisins?), a tinge of chocolate (could have used more), and a creamy quality. There are a couple of things wrong here: First, the ingredients seem a little underpowered - not very aggressive. Second, there's a weird, off-putting element in the flavor; it's hard to pin down what it is, but it doesn't taste good.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer has its good points, but it simply doesn't succeed. Could have been better.

12 oz bottle with a BB date of Feb. 2018 served in a lager glass.
Pours with an essentially black and opaque body topped by a decent tan head that leaves minimal lacing.
Very smooth, creamy body with appropriate light carbonation.
Promising aroma with hints of roasted nuts and chocolate. The flavor does not disappoint, although the roasted nuts are more subtle here, with chocolate more prominent. Lightly sweet fading to a neutral finish.

Very typical of other milk stouts. Almost a bland flavor to my palate. After reading reviews about the lack of a head i poured hard and the head came out of my glass. Took a minute or two to settle with decent lacing. Smooth taste with little aftertaste and very little character other than a mile sweetness on the back end. Just okay for me.
