Collaboration with Side Project Brewing and WeldWerks Brewing Co.
We're excited to unleash this double barrel-aged stout blend made with our friends at Side Project Brewing and Weldwerks Brewing Co. Together we brewed a collaboration base beer that was boiled for over 24 hours, a technique finely tuned by the talented folks at Weldwerks. We then blended the collaboration brew (a technique mastered by the wise crew at Side Project) with three other stouts to help layer and round out flavors, with the collaboration brew making up 65% of the final blend. Double barrel-aged for 15 months in a variety of bourbon barrels.
A blend of 4 separate barrel-aged stouts with completely different recipes:
- Triple mashed Side Project/Weldwerks collab stout | 40 plato | 65% of blend
- Double mashed stout | 38 plato | 15% of blend
- Double mashed stout | 35 plato | 10% of blend
- Double mashed stout | 32 plato | 10% of blend

Weldwerks. Side Project. Boulevard. Stout. Barrel. Sold. 750ML. Split with wife.
Black. Barely any head. Reeks of cocoa, with a bit of booze & brown sugar.
Let’s Keep It Platonic is THICK. Lip-smacking malt sweetness is accented by brown sugar & lactose (no idea if it’s in there) & a huge mid-palate hit of dark mocha chocolate. Mixed into the finish is warming booze, deep bourbon, vanilla, & fudge cake. Fucking delicious. Good thing my wife is here or I’d happily drink the entire bottle.
So many layers to this & unlike some complex brews, it’s still approachable & swiggable. Great beer that's only a whisker from joining the elite.

Black in color with no light penetration. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim. Light lacing is present in the glass. The aroma is of plums and figs. I’m tasting vanilla, dark malt, figs, oak, and cinnamon. The mouth was sticky, chewy, and thick.

There was one good pour into a Rastal Teku glass left from a 32 ounce growler. It was poured from a freshly tapped keg at the growler station at Justin's of Lenexa, which advertised that "BLVD let us have a round of their infamous stout - LET'S KEEP IT PLATONIC. So we're throwing the keg into our growler station!" The tap opened at 4 p.m. August 20. I was first in line.
I let it sit and warm. It poured a dark chocolate color with the occasional faint beige ring, but there was no head to speak of.
(I'm trying to drink this slowly.) The aroma from this ménage à trois of breweries has layered scents: chocolate, coffee, a dark berry like blueberry.
The mouthfeel is thick and a little sticky.
The flavor. Dark blueberrylike, chocolate but not the dark kind, and another fruit flavor as it washes over the palate. Grape. Yet there is nothing roasty about this collab.
The finish is thick and smooth. It leaves chocolate on the throat with a 14 percent sensation.
From Justin's: "Robert thanks so much for snagging this beer while we had it! Cheers!"

Presentation: 750mL brown bottle with a batch number and best by date on the back label. Served in a Rastal Harmony tumbler.
Appearance: A very dark, chocolate brown sliver of a head shows up after the pour but goes away fairly quickly. It leaves behind a lot of patchy lacing. It's a deep, pure black color.
Smell: There's raw cocoa, brown sugar, milk chocolate and even a hint of tobacco. It's mostly sweet though with the chocolate and sugar standing out a little bit more.
Taste: It's a slightly bitter flavor at first of very dark chocolate, toasted oak and coffee. Some sweeter notes of molasses and brown sugar follow. It finishes with fruity dried plums and fig.
Mouthfeel: It's thick, rich, full bodied and velvety smooth but with just the right touch of carbonation texture to give it some character.
Overall: A wonderful beer with a lot of complexity and richness. It never gets cloying or too heavy which makes it surprisingly easy to drink at a hefty 14.2% ABV.

Boulevard Let's Keep It Platonic Imperial Pastry Stout, 14.2% ABV. Pours thick and black with a nice two-finger brown head that left no lacing. Nose is bourbon, chocolate, licorice, brown sugar, moleasses, roast malt, and oak. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, and brown sugar, with many other flavors in the background such as tobacco. Quite sweet, slight bourbon burn, slightly bitter. Very complex, getting better as it warms. Outstanding thick mouthfeel, overall world class.

Boulevard, Side Project, and Weldwerks got together to create a great double barrel stout. The beer is sweet, sticky bourbon with a medium heat from the ABV. This is extremely hard to accomplish because of the strength of bourbon. The aging for 15 months really put this one on the next tier.

Pours pitch black with nearly three fingers of dense caramel-mocha foam that retains well. A strong ring of foam lingers on top of the beer for a long while. Aroma is a heavy punch of roasty and toasty malts. With malt firmly present throughout, notes of bourbon, oak, char, chocolate, cocoa rip through to add biting booze with a kiss of sweetness. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, earthy, and nutty malts with oak, char, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, molasses, and burnt sugar. While the aroma is dark with a biting balance, the flavor profile exudes much more sweetness, offering up a counterbalance. Mouth feel is near still in texture with a light initial soft effervescence that opens up each sip followed by a still effervescence carrying a silty, chewy texture. Thickness is full and thick. Overall, a chewable stout offering up roasty bourbon and a little chocolately sweetness for balance.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 32oz crowler. Served from a crowler dated 11/?? on 12/3. Chilled between canning and serving.

750ml bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate and toffee. So boozy with bourbon, vanilla, oak and dark chocolate. So rich and delicious.

Bottle. Tan head. Black color. Thick.
Roasty and fudgy. Lots of chocolate and bourbon. Oaky. Very warming. The barrels show a lot. Black licorice and molasses notes. Also has a vanilla/marshmallow flavor as it warms. Full bodied, very bourbony finish which I like but others may find repulsive.
