Foeder Sour Ale with Blackberries
This delightfully tart and juicy blend of sour ales and Saisons was aged in foeders, puncheons, and wine barrels, then re-fermented on whole blackberries for three months. Finally, after all that waiting, “now’s the time, the time is now.” Enjoy!

Pours a ruddy chestnut with a sliver of cream colored head. Some head retention & no lacing
S: A little funkyness & blackberries, some figs as this warms up
T: Follows the nose, a touch of oakyness, plenty tart, hints of red wine up front. A hint of leather, red grapes, puckery tart blackberries & oakyness as this ale warms through, & balsamic vinegar notes, Some sweet berries & red grapes fight through the tart, dry & oaky, plus leather, but then they are subdued, a slight bit of lemon & salt as well
MF: Medium body, lively carbonation, acidic on the tongue
I just don't enjoy these anymore. Sour fiends will love this & technically it is a great sour beer, my body just doesn't dig them anymore, especially large format bottles

Poured from 750 ml bottle into a Craft Beer Club tasting glass. Very pretty plum colored body, with a light purple highlight or two. Aromas of berry, mild vinegar, and funk, which are supplemented by a pleasant sourness and a hint of salinity on the lips and palate. All of this leads to a crisp finish that begs for another sip. This was sampled at between cellar temperature and room temperature, which allowed the complex character to shine. Well done!

On draft. Poured out a clear, amber/burgundy color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of tart blackberries, raspberries and other fruits. Sweet berry taste with a tart bite, some lemon and maltiness.
