Pours black that sits still in the glass. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa, and lactose with bourbon behind. Bourbon comes along smoothly without overly developing into heat. Barrel is just enough to round out the end of the aroma - no heavy char notes. Flavor profile is cocoa, molasses, and lactose. Bourbon and barrel add some heat and elevation to the back half of the flavor profile. It drinks like rich, boozy chocolate milk. Mouth feel is thick and full with a soft texture. Some very light, but inconsistent, grit. Overall, a thick and full stout that focuses solely on stout notes and barrel. Not marred by flavor additions, and for that reason it is a thoughtful sipper.
