Brewer's Choice Milk Stout

This isn't as sweet as you would expect from a milk stout, not that that's a bad thing. It's pretty well balanced and you can tell there's a base beer under there that is a lot drier, and they probably just used that and added a small amount of lactose. Just a touch of bitterness as a result, and not overwhelmingly dry or super sweet so it's very drinkable. The ABV is about right too, as this is definitely not an imperial. Solid effort here and one I'd have again.

From a bottle. Pours a deep opaque brown with an inch of tan head. Smells of tasted malt, chocolate, and espresso. The taste is largely coffee and roasted malts with some chocolate in the back. Not very sweet. Medium bodied but not as smooth as I'd expect from a milk stout.

 

Look: Opaque black with a tan "latte-like" head.

Smell: Coffee, baker's chocolate, toffee.

Taste: Follows smell. Pleasantly bittersweet.

Feel: Medium-full body, normal carbonation.

Overall: Tasty brew, definitely no false advertising - it is what it says it is.

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of chocolate, cream, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate, toffee, caramel and a creamy finish.
