There has been a long-standing tradition at Boulevard of releasing a well-crafted, mostly romantic, beer ahead of Valentine's Day to be shared and enjoyed with loved ones. This year we are proud to present White Chocolate Ale made with coffee from our friends at Hammerhand Coffee located right here in Missouri. Taking a cue from previous releases we've lightened the body, and kissed the beer with white chocolate, coffee, and vanilla flavor, creating a smooth partner for cozy nights in, or to be paired with the most decadent desserts. 14 ibu

Nice golden yellow color with a small, fading fizzy head... but a lot of obvious sediment. The aroma of coffee and chocoate - specifically, I think, white chocolate, is obvious. There's some hazelnut, some vanilla. It is a strong and pleasant aroma, but yeah - it can be construed as artificial. No indication that it is, so I err on the side of caution. The taste is similar. It's a soft, light coffee drink, more or less. The coffee forms a nice undercurrent, a body for the compliment of chocolate and vanilla. Bitterness is a light aftertaste here. Fair in body, somewhat creamy, smooth, maybe a touch flat. Surprised that it's 8% ABV, in all honesty.
Not bad at all, but definitely a dessert drink.

Pours an effervescent gold with one finger of cream-colored head. traces of head retention & lacing, doesn't drop bright
S: Coffee, vanilla, hazelnut creamer, great nose although seems a bit artificial
T: Follows the nose. slight astringent bitterness, some white chocolate on the edges, dryness up front. Loads of mocha flavors as this beer warms up, dry woody notes as well. Finishes dry with coffee & vanilla, very woody as well, makes me think of licking popsicle sticks
MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation. Carbonation picks up a little when warm, skews sweet & dry
I pulled trigger on this probably thinking it wasn't a Blonde, shoddy research on my part. Me thinks these will be killed off with plenty of Bourbon on the side. This light coffee ale, Imperial or not; isn't my jam style-wise

From the back label: "07DEC2024 C KC120823 10:00"
Appearance: The body is a medium shade of orange that leans on the darker edge. It is slightly hazy. There's a brief white cap that is short and it fades out to a ring and a light film. No lacing.
Aroma: It has an interesting and somewhat odd aroma that is a bit difficult to describe. It smells a bit like a mixture of orange fanta and cream soda, but the orange character is momentary and sharp before it fades out to this cream soda scent. There is a bit of a wet wood aroma that creeps in after this as well. After smelling this I checked the label and it doesn't mention whether or not this is aged on wood but it smells like there is a bit of wet french oak. It's a really interesting aroma that is pleasant.
Taste: The flavor closely matches the aroma. It has this sharp tangy flavor up front which is a bit like oranges then there is this vanilla flavor which is closely followed by what tastes like wet oak. This tapers off quickly at the front of the mouth and there is this odd coffee flavor that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the flavors towards the middle of the palate. Towards the back of the mouth there is more vanilla that lingers and some coffee bean flavor. Some elements of the flavors seem decent but none of them seem to want to build a cohesive unit.
Mouthfeel: It is light bodied and it feels a somewhat dry. There is a light bitterness to the beer. It almost drinks like a Tripel and that works well for the beer.
Overall: It's a pretty odd beer. The text on the label states that this is an "ALE WITH WHITE CHOCOLATE, VANILLA BEAN AND COFFEE." The white chocolate character never comes through at all but the vanilla and coffee definitely do. This feels like a beer that is nearly there but it's still having a bit of an identity crisis. I enjoyed many elements of the beer but it was not something I would buy again. I would still recommend it because it's worth trying it once.

It's pretty decent, not too crazy but definitely good. It's got the white chocolate character but with some spiced vanilla character from the vanilla bean. The beer is light in color, kinda maybe a blonde stout but they don't market it as well. It's on the heavier side but nothing crazy. Good beer, though the white chocolatiness isn't crazy sweet if you are looking for that. The coffee is a bit more subdued than I expected.

The beer pours a bubbly white head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a hazy dark orange color that looks nice.
The smell has a nice and sweet mix of vanilla, white chocolate, and light coffee. There's a little bit of hop bitterness towards the end.
The taste is decent. It's pretty sweet with vanilla and white chocolate notes dominating the taste with a bitter coffee accent and light hop bitterness in the finish.
The feel is good. It has a medium body with a slight thinness to it. It has tingling carbonation in the finish.
Overall, it was a good beer. It's definitely best as a desert beer.

Poured from bottle into tulip, good 2+ finger cream colored head recedes 1 about a 1/2 inch and hangs out, nice lacing and retention. Dark golden in the glass, slight chill haze. Vanilla and slight coffee on the nose. Vanilla comes out strong on the front, fades into some coffee in the middle, good carbonation makes it prickly. Finishes a little on the sweet side, but not coying. Honestly a white chocolate fan boy here but not really picking up any of that, always pretty much attribute white chocolate to creamy and vanilla, which this pretty much is. Nice sipper, reminds me of the slew of white stouts that had their heyday a few years ago, this one isn't a bad example.

Darker than normal blonde ale which is to be expected being brewed with coffee best part of this beer is the Vanilla it taste so strong and delicious like pure Madagascar bean followed by toffee sweetness and then some coffee notes. Very sweet so watch out if this is not your thing but to me its excellent. Body is a bit slick medium but 8% goes down easy. Overall I know of a place that has four packs of this so I might actually go back and get some more if its only 16 bucks

Pours gold with a good, quick head and average carbonation. Aroma is white chocolate and grain. Taste is light, smooth with a chocolate profile. There is a twist of something like lemon peel at the end. All in all, not too bad, though there are better variants of the limited release series out there.

I really like this. I can taste all three flavors, but it is mostly coffee forward. The white chocolate and vanilla are very subtle after tastes. Goes down smooth with no bitterness of coffee. (I love straight black coffee, so I'm used to the bitterness!) I also love almost every mixed drink very bitter. But even though this is coffee flavor forward, there is zero bitterness. That may be the effect of the white chocolate and vanilla that smooths it out so well.
Overall, it's delicious.
My wife gave a sour look when she tasted it, and she absolutely loves anything with white chocolate. But she's also getting over bronchitis and admits her taste is off right now.
I'd probably buy this regularly if it was regularly available!

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. It smelled of chocolate, vanilla and light coffee notes. Sweet chocolate taste with a good dose of vanilla, roasted coffee and some toffee.

Somewhat hazy deep golden color with a respectable white head and some bits of lacing.
The aroma is mild coffee and vanilla.
The taste is mild coffee, creamy white chocolate and vanilla with a rich golden ale background, very slightly sweet, no real bitterness. Flavors are blended nicely and mostly understated, something rare in most modern ales.
The body is light/medium, good level of carbonation, creamy smooth, very drinkable, very relaxing.
Altogether, this is a very nice brew, good for a romantic sharing and a potent but well camouflaged ABV. Aside from that this would also be an excellent desert accompaniment, very nice.

Loved it! 12 oz pour from tap at “The Bar” in Olathe Ks. Very low IBUs - crisp and light. Chocolate taste is subtle and has a light coffee flavor. One of most distinctive and enjoyable beers I have had this year!
