In a city known for its champions, the 1924 Monarchs were Kansas City's first. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the historic first Negro Leagues World Series in 1924, in which the Kansas City Monarchs reigned supreme after a 10-game series. Boulevard is proud to offer a Salute to the Monarchs with this elegant Belgian-style Tripel, we encourage you to raise a glass to celebrate and remember the original champs of Kansas City.

Good brew, and a nice tribute to KCs baseball history. But it wont make me purchase it again as long as I can get Fin du Monde.

12oz bottle. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden amber color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of spices, yeast, bready notes and caramel. Sweet caramel and toffee taste with spices, bubblegum and yeast.

As for the nose, this Belgian Tripel has one of the better ones. It has a clear, light gold color. The flavor of this limited release is sweet with a yeasty undertone. Wheat also falls onto the palate. An aside. I met Buck O'Neil when I was playing a gig for a Crush Paralysis wine charity event. I've never met anyone nicer with such an easy smile, a smile for everyone. Cheers and here's to the KC Monarchs.
