Pecan Pie, one of the quintessential southern desserts, embodying the region’s love for rich, indulgent flavors, has made its way into the pantheon of Boulevard’s barrel-aged beers, also noted for its rich and indulgent flavors. After resting in solera-aged rum barrels for 9 months, maple syrup is added to the angels share of the imperial brown ale and aged for an additional 6 months. Whether you call it – pe-KAHN pie, or PEA-can pie, there aint’t no arguing that this beer is divine, and if that ain’t the truth then grits ain’t groceries.

12 oz bottle ($3.79) in March 2026 worth a BB date of September 10, 2028 stamped on the label.
This beer is moderately sweet ... thankfully, it's less sweet than one might expect given the "pecan pie ..." name. The beer has a nice nutty character in both the aroma and the flavor that's particularly noticeable in the aftertaste. There's plenty of caramel here too. The rum mostly shows up in the boozy aroma.

L: Pours a muddy brownish red color with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.
S: Huge note of rum, vanilla, caramel and pecan hit the nose. Smells nice and boozy and sweet.
T: Freshly roasted pecans mix with chocolate, vanilla and caramel, finished off with a beautiful dose of rum. It is very sweet for sure but that didn't bother me.
F: Big body and carb feels good for the style.
O: This beer is a perfect dessert for after dinner.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours brown in color with an amber hue, one-finger foamy off-white head reduces to a ring around the glass
S- a inviting rummy nose up front with aromas of brown sugar, coconut and overripe banana. As it warms, notes of maple, candied pecans, oak, molasses and dried fig emerge
T- sweet and malty up front with notes of caramel, maple and brown sugar. Mid-palate gives notes of rum barrel that adds tropical notes of coconut and light pineapple. The finish gives a nutty note with a linger of rum barrel and maple
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into a warming finish
O- this one is kind of all over the place. All of the individual flavors are enjoyable, they just don't really go together. This particular rum is giving tropical notes

Very sweet, but really, what would you expect with a rum barrel and pecan pie flavor profile? Just as advertised. Nice dessert beer.

Purchased at Bound Beverage. $17.00/4pk 12 oz bottles
Pours a dark ruby reddish brown color. Semi-opaque.
A distinct nutty aroma with a strong boozy smell as well.
This brew kicks you in the face from the first sip. A very boozy beer with the rum from the barrel aging as the most distinctive flavor. As it warms up I get flavors of maple syrup, vanilla, coconut and sweet malts. It truly taste like drinking a sweet piece of pie. A definite sipper, dessert-style brew. The ABV is very noticeable.
A smooth, viscous brew with low carbonation.
Overall, this is a brew that really enjoyed. It’s a sipper for sure due to the high ABV and the sweet, slightly cloying flavor. Well done Boulevard…cheers!

Pours a slightly hazy, dark orange brown with very little carbonation showing in the pour; only a few bubbles around the rim of the glass. Aroma of dry caramel malt, pecan, rum and light maple syrup. Flavor is dry caramel malt, brown sugar, rum, maple syrup and pecans. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A pleasant, if somewhat sweet, dessert ale that does have remarkable pecan pie character. Although sweet, it's not cloying, but definitely in the late evening, post-dinner, aperitif realm. The rum barreling as well as the maple syrup melds nicely with the pecan brown ale base. A bit hot, but the malt depth supports the ABV well. Despite the near still pour, the carbonation is adequate. The brown ale base is a pleasant base for a barreled, dessert adjunct ale for a change.

12oz bottle from Brewers Haven. Dark, clear brown pour yields few bubbles. Boozy aroma, sweet, sugary. Taste is brown sugar, molasses and rum, trying hard to detect any pecans. Cloying, overly sweet and boozy.

Dark brown in color with a bit of haze and reddish highlights when held to a strong light. The head is slim and off-white. Aromas brown sugar, wood, rum, malt, caramel, and more. Lots of complex roasted and Maillard scents. The taste is sweet, but not overly done and cloying. Wonderful brown flavors. I do get pecan and sugar flavors in the taste. The boozy nature of the beer comes forth quickly. Full in body and desert-like.

Exceptionally well balanced BA imp brown w/great palate heft; a complex brown sugar/caramelly/pecan/nutty/rummy/malty/toffeeish flavor + a waft of maple in the finish. Very smooth fooler of a 13.5%er & certainly sweet enuf to kill a diabetic at 10 paces!

Extremely sweet. Very light carbonation. Doesn't taste high alcohol despite being 13.5%. Flavors didn't work for me. I couldn't finish it. Might be a bad batch.
I love Boulevard beers and high alcohol styles but not this one.

decadent and awesome, and while i am not all the way in support of the trend towards all of these having to be flavored all the time, this is pretty darn good, and awfully authentic to the mission of pecan pie, like this is liquid pecan pie straight up, and thats pretty impressive. i think its cool its a big brown ale too and not something darker, i dont need more roast on this, and i think it leaves room for the pecans especially, nuts can be hard in beer, so its neat how forward that aspect is, flavoring or otherwise, it hits. the rum is also an interesting choice, when bourbon seems so obvious for this sort of thing, but it adds a neat molasses layer and some cool woodiness, also oddly some coconut character, this has a moment where its got toasted coconut in the mix, must be from the barrel treatment, neat. on tap there wasnt a lot of head on this, rich amber to mid brown color, a little dull to look at maybe, not overly viscous though, and perhaps a tad under carbonated overall. the aroma and flavor run together, lots of rum, heaps of maple syrup right with it, caramelized malt too, this is decadent and sweet and desserty for sure. some nice chocolate malt character, even a milk chocolate note in the center, plenty of oak on this which is nice, and the rum is obvious. nuances of vanilla and coconut later, plenty of pecan of course, maybe flavored but it works here, roasted and deep there, actual nuttiness. the body is modest for its abv, which does come through quite a bit, but its not overly hot and its not out of place in this. rum at the end with lots of maple, the coconut thing, raisin, toffee, and brown sugar. delicious, but a slow sipper at this magnitude. the rum is a neat choice for this, it really adds a lot. could stand a little more carbonation, it sags in feel just a bit, but its hard to be critical, this is great, perfect for this time of year, festive and fun.

Looks like sort a murky muddy dark brown, close to completely opaque, with a small white head, and surprising retention.
Strong rum aroma, spicy, boozy, some barrel character, dark sugars, probable pecan, molasses-like.
Tastes much smoother than the boozy nose would indicate. Sweet, caramel, butterscotch, blackstrap molasses and maple syrup notes combine with nuttiness to heavily-impress the pecan pie concept!! The rum booziness does warm the nostrils upon exhale, but it mostly serves to seamlessly blend with pecan pie malty-sugar sweetness, offering rich notes of toasted coconut and caramelized sugar with a nice spice note. Finishes with some slight warmth, but not grossly boozy like I feared. Nor is sickly-sweet like I was afraid, nor too much tannins. Instead, it is remarkably and dangerously balanced and smooth.
This is impressive; best barrel-aged beer Boulevard has done in a while. Holy crap.

Very nice indeed, especially on a snowy day, after shoveling the drive. As mentioned, maple, rum, brown sugar but perfectly bittered to offset the sweet flavors. I get a coconut note too.
