Amongst the rich tapestry of Irish traditions in Kansas City, one tie to the Emerald Isle stands out – The award-winning liqueur, Five Farms Irish Cream, produced in Ireland, is imported and sold by our friends at Holladay Distillery. KC is also referred to as Cow Town. So it made sense to import milk sugar from Five Farms to brew a silky-smooth barrel-aged Irish Cream Imperial Stout. The result is luscious, with notes of caramel, butterscotch, whiskey, and coffee with a smooth nitro finish. Shake the can three times, pour hard.

Smells of wet cardboard. Sudsy with a fine-grained beige head and lushly carbonated in the mouth. But then I want to spit it out. This is so revolting! Tastes like burnt cinnamon rolls and Seven-Eleven artificial coffee creamer. It’s so unbelievably sweet, it’s some sort of candy. Beyond liqueur. Beyond burnt sugar. This is in the realm of Count Chocula cereal. I admit defeat. From the 16 oz can purchased on the West Coast.

Aroma is fruit, dark malts and vegetal/hard to describe close to a pumpkin ale. The flavor is fruit punch, chocolate/milk chocolate and a an acidic coffee/vegetal/slight pumpkin/warming alcoholic finish.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, off-white head of fluffy foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of milk chocolate, vanilla, cream and whiskey. Very, very sweet tasting with chocolate, milk, butterscotch and booziness.

A rather short review compared to the norm for me.

It looks like a BA stout. Limited head, even for a nitro. Inky brownish black.

Everything else is bizarro world.

Aroma? An intriguing yet dangerously close to offputting mixture of vanilla scented candle and whiskey. Part of me says "hey, kind of cool." The other part says "WTH?"

Taste? Yeah, same. I think this is why milk stouts don't get put in barrels. It's unique and interesting--but jarring and doesn't quite fit together.

Feel? I mean--it's fine. A little syrupy I guess.

This one is a "yeah, try it in case I'm wrong, but don't be surprised if you aren't fond of it" pick.

Pours a nice milk chocolate brown, with a thin head of fine bubbles. Aroma is cream, chocolate and a faint hint of wood. Taste is noticeably nitro, being very smooth. A taste of cream and Irish whiskey blends with chocolate. Carbonation is low. I have a feeling this is a beer for a distinct crowd. A unique taste for those walking on the Irish side of life.

16oz can, painted label. Date code on bottom is 'KC080126 14:30 08JAN2027D'.
Dark brown colored body, with a red garnet back lit edge. One finger of creamy light tan colored head, and this becomes an island and a full ring. No lacing.
Aroma of butterscotch and milk sugar, plus barrel aging and oak.
Taste is at first quite sweet and when this fades, a whiskey barrel aging takes over. Flavors of butterscotch and caramel, coffee, and a whiskey barrel plus oak. Has the feel of cream and a bit of chocolate. Aftertaste is where the barrel is present but still held at bay by the sweetness.
More than medium mouthfeel. Creamy and smooth texture. Higher ABV% is well hidden; the milk sugar is a barrier against any burn. Good carbonation, make sure to do the three time can inversion before pouring.
Milk stout that is barrel aged, and with a higher ABV%, but not overly boozy (just a hint of the barrel with each sip).

Purchased at Bound Beverage, Warrington, PA. 4pk/16oz cans

Per the directions, gently turned the can upside down and back 3 times prior to pouring. Pours a deep, dark brown color with an aggressive, dense, foamy tan head. Reminiscent of a Guinness with a long lasting head even after several minutes of resting. The head lasted the entire session and left sticky lacing on the sides of the goblet.

Aromas of sweet caramel.

A rich, creamy stout with flavors of sweet cream, caramel, coffee and chocolate rounded out with a mild whiskey flavor from the barrel aging. The ABV is pretty well hidden but is noticeable but doesn’t overpower the flavor profile. Slightly bitter aftertaste.

Creamy consistency with low carbonation.

Overall, a very good stout. Leans towards the sweeter side so I’d classify as a dessert-style stout. That being said, I prefer a bit more of a whiskey barrel flavor in my aged stouts. Cheers!

this is absolutely wonderful, especially for this time of year, really original, one of a kind even, about as unique as it gets without being loaded with a bunch of weird ingredients, my pals and i were really impressed, very very cool recipe here, love the packaging too, looks right for the irish cream, and cool that its a nitro can, although i dont think i shook this up quite hard enough to really get it activated, still, a neat touch, this is a very thoughtful brew in every respect. its cool they imported the milk sugar from the distillery, it adds a cool authenticity to this. its also striking its as strong as it is, i think its sturdy to drink but doesnt show its true strength really at all, maybe after its warmed all the way up, but even with all the whiskey flavor this has, its smooth and silky the entire way, so careful with this one! the pour is nice and black and matte and pretty, not super viscous which is appealing, and the nitro head is short and cream colored, could be taller but thats user error more than anything else, im sure of that. aroma is killer, roast and cream together, balanced in a totally original way, dairy rich which is cool, but also dry, like an imperial dry irish stout base, some yeast to it in that way, dark bitter chocolate, and decent whiskey with some spiciness and wood in play, mature as can be but not overdone on the oak or the spirit, the creaminess abounds, and there isnt a ton of middle malt richness which i dig, the roast stands out, very distinctive and curious at the same time, very irish cream forward, impressive! the flavor is just like the nose, smooth with the milk and the whiskey all through it, high end like fatty dairy to me, sweetness to from it, earthy booze and old wood, espresso from the dark grain, just a little fusel alcohol in a way that makes the whiskey genuine, quick on the palate though with a neat irish cream recall, they hit the mark beautifully on this, and the base beer is so perfectly suited to express everything going on here. the nitro is mellow and i bet on nitro tap this was even better, but its a smooth creamy texture anyway, and a neat call overall. ive been a little down on boulevard lately, lots of flavored beers and a little less overall quality than they used to kind of be known for, but this is an about face to all of that, one of the best dark beers ive had all year so far, perfectly suited to st pattys season, and something innovative in that seasonal window where everyone makes the same beers over and over and over. a remarkable specimen, not to be missed! absolutely loved it, one of a kind.

From a tall aluminum car, we first thought the beer was called 'cow tips'. It is a dark, black, opaque liquid. The head is a brownish tan color. Wonderful aroma mixed with coffee, malt, and a sweetness with some woody notes. The taste is balanced, but with an thick fullness in front. Roasted coffee, dark chocolate, grain and plenty of complexity. The ABV is hidden at first, but creeps up. Flavorful and satisfying.
