Interesting beer. Clean, lemony scent. Pours opaque golden color that almost glows, with vigorous carbonation rising off the bottom of the glass, almost like sparkling wine.

Taste is lemon-forward but not sour. It's all about the lemongrass but not too lemony or too grassy. Not exactly complex but not trying too hard either. If the basil is there it's very subtle. Excellent crisp mouthfeel.

This is one of the rare novel beers that is as interesting as its name, description and can artwork. Not really a session beer, but well worth a try, especially on a nice summer's day or night.

draught
Light, nearly clear, golden straw color. Tart, lemony aroma. Thin bodied, lemon flavor with that hint of basil, mainly up front, gone by the finish.

Brewing Projekt The Stolen Mile Fruit and Field Beer, 4.65% ABV. Pours clear pale yellow with a 3-finger white foamy head that left some lacing. Nose is lemon and basil, taste follows, plus grass, equal measures of sweetness, bitterness, and tartness. Excellent mouthfeel, if a bit heavy carbonation. Overall very good. Pale beers without strong flavor aren't my thing, but I'd take this over a Bud or Corona on a hot day.

16 oz can, no date (why?) into Batch 19 pint glass.

A hard pour yields a lager straw colored body with similar transparency and a tall creamy head of 3 fingers that fizzes to about 1 finger and leaves generous lace behind.

Aroma is sweet lemongrass and basil pretty much straight up. There's a little bit of malt but you really have to try for it.

Flavor brings a calming presence of basil and lemongrass with some semi-sweet bready malt behind it. It really is a nice balance. Some sweet hay in tow. Simple. Delicious.

Feel is crisp without being over carbonated, and has a good smooth slick finish.

Overall, I don't particularly care much for The Brewing Projekt, but this is a criminally underrated beer. This beer is like coming down from a panic attack. Lots to admire here. Would definitely have again.

Price paid : $2.49 / can
Would buy again : Yes

Poured from a pint can into a tulip.

Pours a light gold and only slightly chill-hazed. The head doesn't last long, but the lacing is good.

Fresh zesty aromas of lemon and crackery and pale malts.

Lemon and honey sweetness on the tip of the tongue--sort of like a lemon-drop. Pale malts join the party in midstream, along with some white pepper and herbs. The basil is elusive initially, but shows up at the finish, at the back of the tongue.

The carbonation is limited, but the acidity carries the day well. Smooth and slick. Not heavy, but not what I'd call a repeater either.

Like most Brewing Projekt brews I've tasted, this one is unique--but I'm not sure it offers much else Still, it's well constructed and decently balanced, so it doesn't come off as gimmicky. Just odd.

16oz can poured into a pint glass shows a clear darker straw colored body and temporarily floats a white tight bubbled head.
Aromas are a floral citrus sharpness with a slight malt back.
Flavor is bright lemon freshness balanced with a tea-like flavor from the basil.
Mouthfeel leans lighter and crisp. Perfect for warm weather landscaping or relaxing.

Brewed with zest of 300 FRESH lemons and 10 lbs of FRESH organic basil. Must be the basil giving off a bit of a coriander like impression, particularly on the aroma.. Lemons are there...not puckering but more of a sweetened lemonade like flavor....subtle though...certainly not like drinking lemonade but the notes are there.

Wasn't sure how to classify this. I guess it has some whit like characteristics to it but I don't think it is brewed to that style. Listed on website for style as simply "ale".

Whatever the case this is a quality beer. A unique beer. A beer that fits nicely in the summer. Not a beer I would session many of but a nice changeup.
