perhaps not the most traditional pils in the world, although the hops are spot on, its got a lot more grain flavor, richness, and color to it than is customary, and lacks the dry finish. its got a hue of copper to it in the right light, and a solid half inch of white head. clear for sure, and visually fuller bodied. smells and tastes about right, you do get the pilsener malt in there, but there is also a sweeter crystal type in there, and then the hops, which appear to be saaz or something similar, all on the back end. critics could argue that the extra grain is out of place in the style, but i kind of like it, especially with the body it brings and with the doughy lager yeast, it introduces a new element to a style that could use a little face lift in the american brewing tradition. it could definitely stand more carbonation, which was somewhat of a theme across all the beers i had here at deep draft, but its very drinkable just the same, and probably the most approachable beer on their menu.
