Thanks to a Wildman for pointing me to probably the last store to carry this fine beer. It was really a bittersweet experience for me finally driking this one. I have been checking all over the place trying to find Hoster's beers I still have not tried and it looks like they are indeed gone for good (unless someone steps up and buys the name and recipes). On to the beer. This sample was over a year old but I don't think aging did it any harm. Poured a pretty chestnut color with a thin head. Up-front malt aroma with slight alcohol and something like black cherry hiding behind it. This was not as good as Celebrator (what is?) but it is definitely one of the better Doppelbocks I have had. Warm, enticing malt flavor keeps it interesting throughout. A shame to see it go.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
