cool spot, tasty beer, a hearty pint, cut from the old school a little bit with quite the malt profile to it and a lot of bitterness, fresh and zesty, wintery even, very enjoyable. a rich honey color to this, an inch of airy white head with nice retention and lace, good carbonation, and a strong nose of pine sap, fresh milled lumber, and bright citrus, slightly oily to me right away, higher alpha and intense, but not overdone and nicely balanced by some slightly sweeter malt, still pale, but just a little richness in the mix which helps smooth this out and keep things in good proportion. the flavor is exceedingly fresh, its bitter the while way, very northwestern, with notes of juniper, preserved lemon, orange juice, and dried flowers, it has some cool nuance, some weedy dankness, possible mango tropical fruitiness, and is long on the palate even though it doesnt pack a lot of residual sweetness. this is vibrant, lively feeling, well textured, and full of flavor, bold but not over the top, and the ferment is clean and thorough, very well built overall, even if not quite distinct enough to really be memorable, its plenty serviceable and low brow in an appealing way, which is definitely the vibe in this hockey themed brewery, a great hang for sure. nice ipa here!
