Very Good
Notes: A hybrid of west coast and north-eastern style IPAs. Assertive bitterness with citrus and pine combined with the juicy qualities of north-eastern style pale ales.

A-Golden yellow with a thin layer of white head. Lacing is spotty
S-Funk side of the aroma spectrum with some pine and dank characteristics coming through as well.
M-Medium body and medium refined carbonation. Crisp yet there is a definite juicy quality.
T-Grapefruit quality throughout the palate, with a subtle sweetness
O-A very nice IPA. Quite drinkable, but bitter enough that you won’t abuse it...

Got this one from the brewery in Toronto

From a 500ml bottle into a pint glass

APPEARANCE: A slightly hazy pour yields a two finger, medium looking, slightly foamy white head with good retention. Hazy, cloudy amber orange with no real carbonation. Head slowly recedes to a full, foamy wisp and clings to the glass. A half wisp remains until the end leaving touches of lacing.

SMELL: Tropical fruits with mango, pineapple and passion fruit on the nose. Hints of caramel as well.

TASTE: Tropical fruits with passion fruit, pineapple, honeydew melon and caramel sweetness up front. A touch of alcohol at the swallow, moving into a bold finish of tropical fruits, passion fruit and pineapple, honeydew melon , some piney bitterness and hints of alcohol linger on the palate.

PALATE: Medium body and carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, a bit foamy perhaps, goes down smooth and finishes a bit dry. A touch of spicy alcohol lingers.

OVERALL: Good stuff. Another good one from Blood Brothers. Not quite as forthcoming as their Devil’s Trill, but this is right up there. This brewery is definitely worth checking out if you’re into hop forward beer. Cheers!

Frothy white head. The beer has a hazy golden appearance. The smell is citrus, yeast, and overall freshness. The beer is light to medium bodied. There is a juicy quality to the beer and the finish is crisp. I really liked this one.

im glad i didnt give up on these guys after this one, i mean its not a bad ipa, but its easily the least impressive of their beers i had this week, and i really would have missed some spectacular stuff. this one is a bit hazy from the tap, and it doesnt hold its head real long, but the aroma is attractively hoppy, oily and west coasty, bitter and vegetal and intense, but also very fresh and quite obviously dry hopped pretty liberally. the balance is weird when i start drinking it though, not offensive in any way, just not in the sort of proportionality that i generally prefer in the style. it seems overly malty for how juicy dry hoppy it is, like the grains are a little heavy and sweet, and with the haze it sits kind of heavy. its a contrast to the juicy citrus, green apple, and pineapple character thats all over the finish of this. they dont clash so much as they just crowd one another out. i thought their toad of light was a vastly superior hoppy brew. this also lacks the innovation that impressed me so much across the rest of the blood brothers beers. also, this brewery is awesome, a must stop if you have time for a beer in toronto!

Pours gold with amber highlights. A creamy head with excellent retension and thick almost creamy lacing. Aroma: citrus (grapefruit) pine bready malt. Flavour dominated by piney and tropical fruit hops. An interesting concept but the impact was a bit medicinal. Too bad - this ida is worth developing.

This "east-meets-west" IPA is creative and well-crafted but still didn't quite work for me. Pours a slightly hazy orange colour. The combination of pine and tropical fruit hops makes for an intriguing, flowery aroma. Flavourwise, though, it's too medicinal. Reminded me a bit of a Ricola cough drop.

Pours golden-orange with a ton of hop resin chunks, some of which sink to the bottom & some which remain suspended throughout drinking, gradually getting smaller as I work my way through the class - kind of cool to see actually. Rather small head which dissipated quickly & just a small amount of lacing during drinking. Not too much of an aroma although some grassy & citrus hops are noticeable. Citrus, floral, grassy, a touch of pine & some malt balance are available on the taste - the first few sips reminded me of Red Racer as the pine came more forward, but as it went on, that faded to more of the citrus & malt flavours, with lager-like mineral notes dominating the end of each sip as I got towards the end of the glass. Didn't look great at first but in the end it was a decent IPA.

Not a fan of most new school IPA's. Hop bombs. Not for me. So my review is colored by this. Reviews are subjective.

Still, have to applaud the bros for this very hop forward, yet still quaffable brew (in a flight, at least, on a hot day, while walking). Definitely taste the malt in there, like a lighthouse on rough seas of hops.

Floral and fruity nose with a big juicy body. Seems very bitter, even for the style. It is a little reminiscent of bug spray as TheSevenDuffs noted, but I don't find it too offensive. Good.

Obviously their beer styles are evolving/improving as any young brewery with new equipment will show.

This IPA struck us as super floral.... especially on the nose. Lots of head too now, and a fairly balanced bitterness profile, though less floral, and more heading into the West Coast territory they are seeking. Wasn't blown away by this one, but it did come off as being different than all the other IPA's out there, and not necessarily in a bad way. Not having tried it at the time of the earlier reviews, I can't specifically comment if it has improved, but I didn't find it that bad at all.

Bitterness is too harsh and not enough hop flavor for all the hops that are clearly in this beer. Needs work.

UPDATE: Much improved. Bitterness softer and hop character larger. Mouthfeel feel full and round.

A - Poured a very slightly hazy yellow colour with a thin layer of white head.

S - A very odd nose. There's some pine and a bug spray aroma.

T - A sharp bitterness up front with huge pine flavour and that off-taste, similar to the bug spray in the nose comes through again. There is no semblance of balance here. This is just off. No other way to put it. Hopefully these guys keep tweaking the recipe.

M - Light to medium body with some good hop oils and light carbonation.

Very rough IPA, though still a good hop bitterness. Carbonation, no head, some yeast. Needed more time in the tank? Let's give them six to nine months.
