This pale ale features a bold tropical fruit aroma, a result of being jam-packed with juicy Citra and El Dorado hops. the soft but assertive bitterness is balanced by a healthy dose of flaked oats and wheat in the grain bill.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned March 26/25. My 13th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 12th for 2025. Sporadically loved by Sundae the cat...

Pours a little foam. Smells of pineapple and citrous. Taste is like an IPA with hoppy pineapple flavor. Easy to drink. Pretty good and I usually like these kinds of beers. Would recommend it although nothing super special here.

355 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Canned September 19, 2023. Review from notes.
Appearance - Hazy, golden brew with some floaties. Two fingers of rocky white head, good staying power and nice rings of spidery lacing.
Smell - Some citrus with lemon zest and grapefruit pith being the stars.
Taste - Light and fairly citrusy. Medium bitterness with long lasting aftertaste. Oscillates between being too bitter for the sake of being bitter and just right, with the conclusion being it's just right.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied, modest and soft carbonation and easy drinking finish.
Overall - A better pale ale than I expected given the lower ABV. Very well hopped and sufficiently flavorful while also thirst quenching and refreshing. Well executed.

As an APA in general this is somewhere between "Meh" and OK, but as a hoppy 4% beer it is quite good. Just enough bitterness to accentuate the citrus and to keep the beer as drinkable a hot weather beer as a grisette or small farmhouse. Kudos for the balance of dry-enough-to-be-crushable and full-enough-to-be-real-beer. An excellent lawnmower beer.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jun 23 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours hazy & translucent, its body a pale apricot yellow colour and crowned with more than two fingers of billowing, puffy, foamy white head that collapses within five minutes or so. A wide collar of frothy suds remains, surrounding a thin cap; minimal lace at first, but there's good deposition as the level drops. Fruity and aromatic on the nose, with hints of grapefruit, pear and watermelon coming through, as well as suggestions of lemon-lime citrus, peach and lychee.
Rather flavourful for a light beer - citrusy at the forefront, with lemon & lime giving way to notes of stone fruit and melon. Grapefruit pith and mild bitterness on the back end, with hints of wheaty grain, bready malt and resin briefly persisting into the aftertaste, which trends dry. Light-medium in body, with middling carbonation levels that add some bite to this brew's smooth, surprisingly fulfilling texture. Effortlessly easy to toss back, as any good light beer must be.
Final Grade: 3.83, a B+. Blood Light is more than a delightful pun, it's also a pretty darn good light pale ale. A natural fit for session IPA fans - and while light, hoppy ales such as this are always best served as fresh as possible, I will say that this can has held up admirably for four months, and might be able to last twice as long if you keep it cold. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more, and would encourage BAs who are in the market for a craft light beer to give 'er a go.
