Modern berry ale with a sweet and softly tart tastescape. Chokeberry juice is fermented with a wort packed with extra light caramel malts at a ratio 1/7. That allows to degrade the berry`s natural astringency to a crispy dryness that ends in a juicy fruitiness with some light malt sweetness.

Copenhagen 26/6 2022. 50 cl bottle from BulgarskMad, Åboulevarden, Kbh. N. Simple red label in Labietis’ usual design with the bearded fellow in the logo and a signature from the brewer.
Pours opaque, murky amber with a red hue and mid-sized pink head. Settles as thin but unbroken layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with sweet berries and bit of sugared lemonade mingling with tart notes. Sweet raspberries and black currants. Tart sharp Aronia peeking in.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a tart undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is rather dry.
Decent berry brew with a nice dry finish.

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, slightly caramelly malt and chokeberries. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of doughy, slightly caramelly malt and a strong, somewhat tart chokeberry presence, with hints of bitter, herbal hops as well. Finishes quite dry, with a light tartness and bitterness, as well as some chokeberries lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
This certainly does what it says on the tin, with a strong, slightly tart and astringent chokeberry presence that is reminiscent of green apples and grape, lending quite a dry character to this that gets balanced nicely by light caramel malt sweetness and slight hints of herbal and bitter hops. While it may feel a little one-sided, it certainly makes for a very refreshing brew with a good balance of tart, bitter and sweet notes.

A: Pours a bright ruby red color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap
S: Sweet aronia berries, citrus, and a bit of light bread
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the aronia berries and some bready malt. Picks up the citrusy hops and a bit of bitterness after the sweetness gives way. Finishes with lingering aronia berries and citrus
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A nice mix of sweet, tart, and bitter berries make for an easy light-ish drinker. Worth a drink
