Pours a clear, golden color. White, fluffy head formation with good retention. Herby on the nose. Malty, caramel taste with slight bitterness. Not a bad one but also nothing truly remarkable about this one.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded B1524 (Feb 15 2024?) and served slightly chilled. Brewed in Ottawa, ON - I'm fairly sure they are brewing at their own facility, i.e. Shillow is no longer a contract brewery.
Pours a relatively clear golden-amber colour, capped with one finger of loose, frothy white head that collapses over the next two minutes. A thin collar remains, along with a few scattered patches of lace - looks normal so far. The aroma is subtle, offering up hints of bready malts, earthy hops and biscuits drizzled with honey.
Not bad, but a little on the saccharine side - I'm tasting honey, bready malts, caramelized sugars and biscuits, with maybe a hint of citrus peel. Finishes with biscuits, caramel and a hint of earthy, grassy hop bitterness; the aftertaste is lightly malty. Light-medium in body with vibrant carbonation that adds a crisp bite to this lager's smooth mouthfeel.
Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. Shillow's Vienna Lager is an acceptable take on a style that I have no particular fondness for. I'll admit that this lager grew on me over the course of the glass, but I still don't think it's a standout Vienna, e.g. there's no reason I'd pick this over, say, Boston Lager - and there are a few Ontario-made Vienna's I'd revisit before this one, as well. It's a serviceable, malt-forward lager that I wouldn't discourage other BAs from trying, but I wouldn't go out of my way for more.
