Coconut Porter

Poured from a growler into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger khaki head with great retention and slippery solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, coconut and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt, milk chocolate, coconut and some drip coffee; coconut chocolate in the finish with mild bitterness. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I had a taster of this along with the base porter at the brewery and I liked the somewhat deeper flavor of the malt in this compared to the base and appreciated the light touch of coconut. That is true of a couple of glasses of this too. The porter has a nice light chocolate malt flavor and the coconut is deftly added. Enjoyable and looks great.
