I know very little about this beer other than what is on the crowler. It's not listed on either their website or facebook page. What I do know beyond that is this is one of the better Minnesota made Marzens I've had. I loved this on their patio recently and love it just as much now from a crowler a couple days later.
It's got a really rich toasted, Munich malt impression. A lot of depth to the malt and a nice medium body and creamy texture. Whatever hops are used are perfectly deployed and just add a bit of balance to this rich malty marzen.
Deep orange/copper color...ok clarity...
I'm having a hard time remember a MN made Marzen this good. Maybe Lupulin? Reminds me a little of Ayinger. Fortunately, I also have Ayinger and Lupulin in the refrigerator so I will update with thoughts on those comparisons soon.
Update: Birch's definitely better than Lupulin...nothing wrong with Lupulin though
It's been more than five years since I have been to Birch's as it is out of the way for me when I am in the cities but I've always thought this brewer here is one of the best and this certainly doesn't change my thoughts on him.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
