Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is solid black, head is light tan with fine bubbles, head presents one finger on first pour and two plus on second pour.

Smell is strong maple, light coffee, light nuttiness.

Taste is strong maple syrup but more flavoring than syrup, light roast coffee, nutty finish, limited earthy hops.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate/strong sweetness, low bitterness.

Overall a heavy maple-ly brew with light coffee and nutty malt backing.

A very nice milk stout...

...When I first learned of milk stouts I thought to myself, this would be my favorite style. After drinking several I was sadly disappointed to find out it would actually not be the case. As it turns out, I've been on the lookout for the best milk stouts out there. Though this might not fit the bill to a "t", I can tell you, it's very solid. From the look, the scent, and the taste - it's booziness is not so forward, but it's definitely there. A milk stout to definitely be on the lookout and one to pick up if you're lucky to come across it...

This is a novelty beer that really works. The peanut butter isn't over the top and has a nice, genuine roasted peanut quality. The underlying stout is sweet and chocolatey while the coffee is light roast and a bit too mild.

Aroma is peanut butter, dark malts and mild chocolate. The flavor is peanut butter, dark malts, chocolate/very mild dark chocolate and a mildly sweet/acidic finish.

L - looks like a stout. Pretty dark decent head and lacing.

S - cola like toasty smell. A hint of coffee.

T - I really tried to like this one but on my last of the four pack and it’s not great. The combination of flavors come off almost piney like drinking coke mixed with cologne. Not terrible but not good either. At least for me.

F - the flavors make it seem thin but then the lactose makes it thick. A bit odd.

Overall could not get into this one. Maybe my can was old and the coffee aged out but the maple element is a tad odd not sure why. Maybe they threw maple twigs in there cuz it sure is piney. And not hops piney but like chewing a pine branch. Not the worst but won’t buy it again.

An ancient pint can plucked off the shelf (the rim caked in a blanket of crust and deposit)

Very dark cola color. Smells like bitter coffee and sweet maple, nice contrast. Easy drinking, a little roast, not too sweet, but very apparent syrupy maple at the same time. The aftertaste is all maple and peanut butter though, and it hangs around. This needed more coffee in my opinion

This beer is amazing! Lots of coffee with a perfect balance of maple. Super good! And not too sweet either.

Ah peanut butter my love. Every beer with peanut butter should have more of it. I’m hoping this one does. 16 oz. single can purchased on a test basis.

Dark brown cow. Smells like a Reeses, though I generally just shove them in my mouth without probing their delicate aromas. May as well do the same with this.

How Now Brown Cow underwhelms. I can tick off the ingredients like my camping checklist: roast check, cocoa check, peanut butter (the strongest component by far) check. The PB really sticks to the gums. Part of the problem is the underlying stout appears to be too timid to make an appearance, so there’s no structure to hang the ingredients on. It is easy to drink….

Decent. Hoping for more.

No can date
Pours a brown foamy frothy almost 1 finger head with great retention, fair lacing, almost jet black very dark brown color

Nose holy brown cow that's peanutbutter, loads of peanutbutter and salty peanuts, a bit of cocoa and coffee, dark chocolate, but that's about it, no stout in there

Taste is about the same, just loads of peanutbutter, roasted peanuts, some creamy milk chocolate and cocoa, a touch of smooth coffee late, little bitterness, a bit of roast but seems more from coffee and nuts than malts, lactose sugar, creamy finish, a bit dry, lingering bitterness and more peanutbutter

Mouth is med bod and very milky creamy, med to lighter foamy carb

Overall... Sigh, I might as well just blend up some peanutbutter and powdered cocoa with a little coffee and milk and make a shake, it would be much cheaper and healthier than this and taste the same. There is no beer in this monstrosity.

16oz can poured into standard shaker pint glass. dark brown almost black with a two fingers worth if dark brown foam head. smooth milk chocolate base with some oats perhaps as well. chocolate and peanut butter aromas and taste but there’s also some hops. drinkable but rich flavors as well. medium mouthfeel. nothing crazy thick but also not watery thin either. good stuff.
