Are you young, naive and good at seeing the 3D images in those posters from the 90’s? Well, don’t tell William! He’s been trying for 3 days and he’s not going anywhere until he sees something. We learned the hard way and now I know the sad truth about the Easter Bunny at the mall. This luscious beer has the body and mouthfeel of a DIPA, but is only 4%. It’s packed full of sweetness and CITRA LUPLIN POWDER for a killer tropical aroma and flavor.

A: Pours a murky golden burnt orange in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint amber colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of juicy tropical/passionfruit, citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, and tropical/pineapple hops over the top of moderate aromas of moderately sweet caramel malts.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of caramel + toasted malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of juicy tropical/passionfruit, citrus/grapefruit, tropical/mango, and tropical/pineapple hops which contribute a light amount of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving a moderate amount of lingering caramel sweetness.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly sticky.
O: This is a very interesting session pale ale - does not lack in the mouthfeel at all and the hop presence/malt sweetness really make me think this one is a DIPA (I am truly shocked this beer is a 4% ABV pale ale). The lupulin powder really amps up the hop presence without adding any real bitterness. This is excellent.

I normally don't really like "session" IPAs, but this one is amazing. Given the hazy orange pour, the fruit explosion on the nose and the creamy mouthfeel, you'd totally think this was an IPA or IIPA. Lots of flavor for this ABV, a little sweet but that didn't bother me. Crazy stuff.

16 oz can from 2/2/16. Poured into 16 oz Belgian ale glass.
L: 2F head with not very much retention, lots of sticky lacing, and a cap and ring. Beer is a nice hazy golden bronze.
S: That citra lupulin powder is amazing. Lots of tropical and citrus fruit (pineapple, passionfruit, mango, grapefruit, lemon rind) and floral things going on in the nose, and with nice intensity.
T: Just a beautiful juicebomb. Soft waves of pineapple, mango, lemon rind, light grapefruit, and passionfruit. Just enough malt to give it body and neutrality.
F: Amazing body for a 4% session APA, definitely in the medium or slightly above area, light to medium carbonation, phenomenal construction and balance. You can drink this all day and you want to, but sadly they didn't make much.
O: At least the equal of Fort Point Pale or Pseudo Sue and quite possibly the best APA out there, period. Except it's not out there, because we drank it all here in NoVA. If Aslin ever decides to go big, this would be a fantastic beer to do it with.

I was very excited to try this beer, a 4% session pale ale with Citra lupulin powder. Color was a little dark on my first can, got a little bit of citrus on the nose and this had a huge mouthfeel. Definitely has the body of their big DIPAs, which is impressive for a 4% brew. It did have some light citrus notes but I found it to be a bit malty and sweet. Was expecting something lighter and brighter. Good beer but maybe just not for me

Bought on tap at Aslins. My first visit there ever. From the keg to a half growler then to my home.
At only 4% ABV, this Pale Ale is light and delicate, yet the test is very complex. Floral and citrus, it is a pure delight to drink.
It may be bold to say, but this is better than Zombie Dust in my opinion and is quite easily the best example of an APA I've ever had. This first Aslin offering has impressed me greatly.

They may call this an ipa but it may be more accurately described as a "citra session amber". Biscuity/doughy back end blends with citrus and soft marmalade. Tasty.
