Pours the color and clarity of cola. Nose expresses vanilla, coffee and a suggestion heat. Taste is less intense than suggested by the nose with a bit of char and a slight bitterness. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a slightly lively carbonation. Overall, a solid porter; however, the nose is misleading in comparison to the flavor profile.

The beer pours a nice brown head that dissipates fairly quickly. The beer itself is a delicious coffee black with a light brown hue to it.
The smell is fantastic. It has a delicious and extravagant bitter vanilla note and a soft light coffee note.
The taste is surprisingly different from the smell. The taste has more of a bitter coffee note and a latte like and a light bitter vanilla. There's a sharp acidic coffee taste. Light roasted notes to it.
The feel is good. It's heavy bodied but very, very drinkable. The carbonation is biting and tingling. A slight acid feel to it.
Overall, this is a fantastic beer and worth having gotten hold of. It tastes like a good latte with a bit more chocolate and roast to it. The smell is fantastic but the taste could use a little work.

16oz can poured into a stemless glass
L - Motor oil black
S - roasted malt and coffee beans galore
T - dark roast coffee beans is pretty heavy, a smudge of vanilla rounding it out
F - Easy to drink for 9.5% ABV but full flavored
O - Not as much vanilla as was advertised but it's a decent coffee stout. Basically a cup of coffee

16 oz. can from 12/28/17 release. Poured into Aslin 2nd anniversary glass and allowed to warm.
L: 1F head with pretty poor retention, a little bit of tan lacing and a thin ring. Beer is jet black.
S: Coffee and roasted malts with a bit of vanilla.
T: Coffee and vanilla. Roasted malts. A rather surprising jolt of citrus (this must be more aggressively hopped than expected). Slightly bitter finish.
F: Moderate body, very little carbonation. Balance not quite there in terms of getting all the flavors to work together.
O: It's not bad, but the flavors don't mild like they ought to.
