Black to deep brown.

Nose is cold brewed coffee with nice roasted characteristics.

Taste is sugar, malt, sugar, coffee and a bit of chocolate.

Body is heavy with low carbonation.

Very sweet to the point of almost undrinkable. If you like sugar in a can, this is for you.

The beer pours a fairly light head and dissipates very quickly. The beer itself has a nice chocolate syrup like texture with a very dark broken that borders on a milk chocolate black.

The smell and taste are both incredibly good. Both have a good Jamaican Blue note that is more prominent in the taste than in the smell. The smell has the coffee as sort of a nice contrast to the sweeter and more prominent lightly bitter cocoa note. The smell also has a tiny booze note and a slight bitter herbal hop note but both are barely noticeable. On the other hand, the taste has more prominent coffee note that mixes well with the cocoa, which offers a sweet contrast. There is a slight herbal hop note in the finish but not much.

The feel is good. It's heavy and has a creamy milk chocolate feel to it with very tiny carbonation. There is also a decent acidity from the coffee, which is pretty interesting.

Overall, this is a pretty good beer and delicious. The coffee note certainly comes very well. This trade was well worth it.

16 oz can purchased 12/29/17 at brewery. Poured into Aslin anniversary glass and allowed to warm. Can't believe they used Jamaican Blue Mountain beans to make beer. That stuff is not cheap.

L: Dark black motor oil type pour. Very small tan head and it doesn't last very long. As dark as staring into the abyss and contemplating America's political leadership (multipartisan slam there, don't get partisanly mad).

S: Very nice roasted coffee up front. Whiffs of chocolate, cocoa, and dairy sugar. No hint of alcohol.

T: Again, roasted coffee, with roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa with marshmallows (yes!). You get some of the herbal/citrus hop character, but properly muted. Only the slightest, slightest hint of the high ABV. Nicely done.

F: Full-bodied, but still quite drinkable, so be super-careful. No real carbonation to speak of. Construction is quite solid and it balances nicely. I do feel like it could do with some aging. but this is nitpicking.

O: I've never aged a can before and Aslin suggests all its beers are ready to drink when released, but this one is sorely tempting. Now that they have room, perhaps they'll age this and release in a couple of years. It's great right now, though.
