Different than most strong IPAs. Less head which I don’t like but much more fruit. Pineapple and oranges and tangerines and even coconut. Tastes tropical but feels flat

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Pale bodied a bit, cloudy, not totally hazy and staying away from turbid soup, but with an almost dark hefeweizen like orange and mixing hints of lemon and brown body colors. Fluffy and thick white top three finger head, slightly soapy, touches a bit of creamy looking though, and faint bit of pill lacing. Solid looking IPA.

Aroma is quite nice. Soft leafy hop hints slightly mint, but goes into more tropical qualities. Just a hint of creamy vanilla kicks in as well which accents a little bit of the malt sweetness nicely. Tinges to mango and pineapple juicy qualities without the wetness. Very nice.

This is a neat tasting beer. Sweet addition of vanilla gives a great flavor of this white chocolate and cocoa butter that dominates the palate. Nice hop angles of earth and tropics make a good cut through of flavor. Simple mouthfeel, unfortunately not malt rich but at least supportive. Excellent vanilla flavor particularly on the swallow, which is a perfect contrast for this hop angle of light tropical juice if slightly indistinct, and spicy earth. Faint taste of chalk also unfortunately.

I find a lot of brewers through vanilla in as a gimmick, especially in IPAs, this one actually comes out like they came up with a recipe that would give it justice. It seems like they thought hard on this one and got it right. Solid IPA brew and very memorable and tasty.

No canned date, but assumed fresh from the latest can release 01/19/18

Appearance - Pours hazy and orange in color with an off-white, half finger's width head. Fair retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds with a ring of suds encircling the edge of the glass. A handful of small spots make up the lacing.

Smell - Enticing tropical aroma of mango, tangerine, pineapple, guava, orange and lesser vanilla. A bit of booze creeps in as the brew warms.

Taste - Beautiful use of the vanilla to play off the wonderful, juicy tropical flavors. A smooth, fresh vanilla character hits first (and plays through to the finish) followed by mellowed mango and some brighter orange, pineapple and tangerine notes. The citrus and pineapple acidity lingers as the vanilla fades.

Mouthfeel - On the lighter side of full-bodied, with moderate, tingly carbonation. Easy drinker with a firm texture before turning slightly dry and a faint boozy burn in the finish.

Overall - A really delicious milkshake(?) DIPA that finds great balance in both flavor and texture, delivering a wonderful and thorough drinking experience. I actually would have graded this a tick higher if not for the boozy character that comes into play as the brew gets warmer, but at 9.4% and for a beer of this caliber how could it not? Lovely regardless.
