The beer pours a creamy light tan head. The beer itself is a good ruby brown color and has an opaque texture to it. It's nice looking.

The smell is fairly sweet and a light alcohol note with some good bitter pine resin to it. There isn't much past that but it's good enough to enjoy.

The taste is good. It's a fairly sweet with a slight bit of alcohol around the edges and fairly bitter pine resin finish that really lingers.

The feel is good. It's a heavy bodied beer but fairly smooth and only slightly sticky. It's very drinkable and, thus dangerous.

Overall, a decent barleywine but nothing amazing or unique about it.

Impressive how bad this is. Homebrew American barleywine gone wrong status, and I love a lot of Aslin's beers. $8 drain pour..........................

Poured from the can into a snifter glass.

Deep copper red, quite dark for a wheatwine in a body color, but an excellent burnt red and aggessive khaki creamy two finger head. Soft creamy top and light populating bubbles. Solid looking large brew.

Aroma seems to hint more towards a strong ale quality, but a decent one. Caramel rich with a touch more on rich hops in American character. Earthy and pine dense, but also slightly fleeting and a bit mellow. Not sure where this is going.

Palate is extremely neutral. Light bodied slightly with hinting wet character, and lacking lots of chewy textures I would expect in this style. Does manage a bit of creamy qualities, and maybe even that rubs in some of the caramel more nicely, but even the hop profile is very one dimensional. Light soft earth and minimal bitterness, but with a good barleywine like body.

This comes off more as a standard and very neutral American barleywine. Not bad, but this needs more work I think.

After a walk on the OC boardwalk I cracked open this beer with my brother. Notes of liquid with some traces of alcohol tickled my tongue. I took a drink of my water next to the beer and noticed the water surprisingly had more taste. Reluctantly I took a few more sips of the beer and unsuprisingly I still tasted absolutely nothing. I looked longingly at the bear adorning the can and he waved back at me. He is the only reason I gave this beer a 1.25 instead of a 1.
