A fruited Brut IPA? Twisting the new style already, and it’s mildly successful.
Reddish purple, the nose is a weak raspberry jam initially, a little more obviously as it warms. The raspberry hides most other notes, from which I occasionally picked out cracker and orange zest.
It is pretty dry, but the fruit addition throws off the typical dry notes from a few other Bruts I’ve had. The raspberries don’t actually add much sweetness, though. Overall, it’s a little like a watered down Sangria, with raspberry being most prevalent, and a dry, slightly orange pithy bitterness in the end.
This beer slowly gained a light bitterness with warmth. This helped in my opinion saved it from being just a weak fruit beer.
