ive heard so many good things about these guys, its awesome to finally try one of their beers for the first time, but i have to confess, a watermelon ipa is not exactly what i was hoping for, given what i know about the brewery, but, its awesome, and i cant complain! really maybe the best use of watermelon in beer that i can recall, it has a very natural complexion, juicy and summery sure, but it isnt sweet and it isnt forced, and its well beyond the nice dry hoppy fruitiness here in both the nose and the taste. there is also a good vegetal element to it that suggests real watermelon was used, like the green bitter rind almost comes in later on after the fleshy watermelon bit in the middle, sort of working like more bittering hops might in the finish, giving this some nice balance for a mostly dry hopped beer, a cool deployment of the watermelon for an unlikely purpose there. the whole thing is real wet and juicy, and the hops work well with the fruit, light orange citrus to them and a little leafy greenness. medium body but light still, and without hardly any leftover sugar from the watermelon. id like to try a lot of their other beers more than this one, but if they can do this so well, it gives me a lot of stoke for the others. this is a difficult thing to do well, and they executed it beautifully! hopefully track down some others here soon...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
