16 oz. can from Black Friday poured into Kane chalice and allowed to warm. Been drinking a lot of this style lately, including Sunday Brunch and CBS, so giddyup cause it's comparison time.
L: Maybe 1F tan head, with scant lacing and a thin ring remaining. Beer is a dark black.
S: Very good start. Roasty, smoky, and sweet notes vie with each other and you get a bit of all of it. I do have concerns this might be too sweet, but often the nose in these stouts overemphasizes sweet, so we shall see.
T: It's only a little bit on the sweet side, it turns out. The maple works nicely with the roast coffee and malt and smoky bacon notes to almost meld together into a singular taste experience. ABV also helps cut the sweetness a tiny bit, but it's still remarkably well hidden here as it is through the entire series.
F: Full-bodied here, very little carbonation. I do think this could do with some aging (and Aslin discourages us from doing so), so I hope they barreled some of it, as the flavors are not fully melded and it could be just a tad less sweet.
O: This is a really good breakfast stout and it deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence as Sunday Brunch or CBS.

The beer pours a nice brown head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a good dark coffee black that looks pretty good. The smell is really good. It has a delicious mix of maple syrup and coffee upfront with a fairly light salty and bacon note to it. The taste is also really and with the same notes. The difference is that there is a nicer smoke note at the finish and a more prevalent and sweet syrup note upfront that transitions nicely to a bitter coffee note. The feel is good. It has a heavy body but thin feel to it and a slightly dry finish. Overall, this is definitely one of the best from the set and worth getting.
