Absolutely fantastic beer. Maple comes through without being cloying. Get a nice bit of smokiness in the back along with nice roasted coffee flavors that linger in the after taste. Great full body just as youd expect from a big imperial

16 oz. can from Black Friday poured into Behind the Veil teku glass and allowed to warm.

L: Big light tan head upon poor, but it gradually works its way down to a thin cap and ring with some nice tan lacing. Beer is dark black.

S: Gingerbread comes through nicely, along with black coffee and roasted malts.

T: This works out very nicely - gingersnaps, coffee, and roasted maltiness. A little sweet, but not cloying and the coffee and ABV help cut it.

F: Medium body, not much carbonation. Construction and balance are absolute superb. Amazingly drinkable for the ABV and the amount of warming is relatively small considering.

O: Really great effort here.

The beer pours a nice brown head that dissipates at a moderate pace while the beer itself is a nice dark coffee black with a good texture to it.
The smell is pretty good. It has a nice mix of a light ginger with a moderate coffee and spice notes. The taste is very good. It has a good and present ginger note and lightly spiced with cinnamon and a bit of clove. There is good coffee underneath it all that lingers in the finish.
The feel is good. It has a nice heavy body with a good creamy feel to it.
Overall, this is pretty good. It strongly resembles Hardywood's GBS first batch in terms of how good the flavor notes are and is definitely better than this year's batch. This is definitely a winner and a shame that more weren't made.
