My still slightly hungover wife asked for an IPA to start the evening. I grabbed this. Didn’t know it was 13% in the can, honest!

The pour begins a decanted, clear copper but the crud at the bottom clouds it into a dulled orange. Not much going on in the nose. Light pine & citrus backed by unfocused sweetness.

Naming a beer ‘Jenerik’ is just tempting the beer gods to strike your beer with a fist of Keanu Reeves & this is pretty close. The hops are generically bitter without much taste, except of course a kiss of (Speed) alcohol. A long, strong, tongue kiss. Malt provides a ton of sweetness without any sugariness &…that’s it.

Speed? No. The Matrix? No. Knock Knock? That’s more like it, though K.R. does smile once or twice in that one. Dull & uninteresting.

Cloudy dark gold/mildly bronze. Quickly dissipating head, minimal lacing. Nose is malty, bready. Taste is malty, bready, sweet, slightly orange notes. Mouth watering, crisp, easy to drink because the alcohol is well hidden but sneaks up on you. Reminds me a bit of a slightly weaker 120 Minute IPA, which is not a bad thing at all.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark golden pour, spotty head. I could swear at first whiff it was PBR, very malty, grainy. Taste brings in a lot of sweetness, and more malts, so now it's coming off as a malt liquor. Some juicy notes with a nice creamy feel. Pretty tasty, at first no sign of the 13% ABV, but it seems in slowly.

To me, a TIPA is more sweet than not. I expect that when buying and anticipate it. This beer has a good flavor profile and yields an ipa-style aftertaste which is good compared to other TIPA/QIPA’s, which may leave you thinking you just ate a sugary candy. I would recommend this to anyone looking to try a quality triple. A nice bonus is the 13% ABV which means you don’t need more than two at most!

Poured a cloudy, orange body with large head that slowly dies and leaves lace patches. Aroma of mixed acidity that also has notes of sweetness like peaches. Smooth, fuller body, a tangerine- and peach-like sweetness with only minor bitter acidity. Has a clean finish despite being sharp at times and is enjoyable with well-hidden ABV.

L: Had this at Growlers to Go - Short Pump, poured into a snifter glass. Had a burnt orange color and a super cloudy consistency. There was a massive, creamy, long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A subtle aroma of hops, malt, pine, citrus fruit, and tropical fruit.

T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (mostly in the finish), some tropical fruit (mango), a good amount of pine), some hops (not overdone at all), an earthy quality, and some citrus fruit (orange, in particular). An interesting, slightly heavier flavor than I expected. Not at all boozy in spite of the ABV%. It has a nice subtlety to it. Tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Medium- to full-bodied.

O: A nicely made DIPA. Worth a try.
