Pours a dark brown with two fingers of khaki foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is roasty, toasty malts with oodles of herbal, resiny, piney hops, making for a sticky, dark drink. Balance is great here, with the roasty malts balancing out well with the sticky hops. Flavor profile is herbal, resiny, syrupy, pine hops with a base formed by roasty, toasty, earthy malts. Chocolate and toffee add a little sweetness on the back end. Hops carry a light bitterness, which is smoothed out by the chocolaty, dark malts for a net balance. Mouth feel is slightly sticky with a fine graininess. It has a medium-thick consistency. Overall, sticky, dank and dark - all symptoms and traits of a quality dark IPA. Balance is great here.
